    Not more or less while optimizing the website you should always go for a Do follow backlinks then it will be valuable and it can't be spam.

    No creating more do follow links are very beneficial to optimize the website on search engine. you can kept a aspect ratio between the do follow as well as no follow links.

    Unnatural and spamming backlinks that is coming to your site harmful for ranking in Google because it comes under penguin algorithm that is not good for SERP of website.

    Hello. I think there is no matter to get more and more backlinks but quality and do-follow and related links are healthy.If you placed links on irrelevant categories and build links on those sites who have penalty by google this could be harmful.

    It depends upon your backlink strategy..If you are doing it unnaturally and with spam then definitely it will harmful for your site otherwise "NO way"..:)

    Few High PR - Do-Follow Links , Links form Authority sites Gov . Edu Links
    Build Links Relevant to your niche and build Links from different domains

    Go for quality first. Build some quality backlinks. I suggest you to do both, dofollow and nofollow because that looks natural link profile. All dofollow links suggest search engines that you are doing it unnaturally.

    It's not how many links you have, it's how good the links are! A thousand good links will be extremely beneficial to your site, but more poor quality, spammy links will not get you very far, and may result in you receiving a Google Penalty!

    Not like this, if you are having large number of quality back-links Google will not effect your websites rankings. Avoid creating back links that are not feasible with Google guidelines.

    Back links helps to boost our keywords on search engines. as you make many back links it helps to rank the keyword gently on Google. so many backlinks are not harmful for site. there must be proper ratio between do follow links and no follow links.

    only if they are good quality backlinks! if they are spammy and irrelevant to your site, Google will pick you up on them
