Working with long tail keywords successfully means that a publisher needs to know which long tail keywords actually get hits or are searched for on the major search engines. Research is the only way to know if long tail keywords will work or not, and that if the smaller investment will still pay off at the end of the publishing campaign.

Long-tail keywords are neither better, nor worse than short-tail keywords. They are often used in combination with shorter and highly competitive key phrases to drive a bit more traffic. Sometimes you may not even realize your website is ranking for some mildly popular long-tail, then suddenly you see it in Google Analtycis. But such surprises are rare now, because of the "not provided" plague.

In other words, long-tail keywords are just like any other keywords, they tend to be longer (usually 5 to 10 words long, or even longer), therefore fewer people search for them and it is usually easier to optimize a webpage for several long-tails at once and to rank it high enough for them. The problem may be with discovering long-tails. Like I said you can check in Google Analtyics. There is also seo keyword software that scrapes Google suggest or Ask suggest. You could try using that.

Long tail keywords are best because they have very low competition, so it's a lot easier to rank high for them in Google. Try Wordtracker free keyword tool, it's great to find longtail keywords.

Try long tail pro. A lot of it will just happen naturally and on a lot of sites this will become the main traffic source from organic search.

    Ha, funny.
