Some of the things you can do is to monetize via Adsense, via direct advertising (make sure you have a contact form on your page for direct advertisers to find you), affiliate marketing - yes promoting soccer related products and ebooks to your readers. make sure you build a list. have an optin form on your blog to collect emails from subscribers.

For building a responsive audience on your blog...You should
    1. ensure every post is highly valuable and helpful to readers and not just some piece of rubbish information that are already widely available in Google
    2. not too lengthy nor too short
    3. have an engaging and clear title
    4. make it easy for people to comment on, no difficult captcha or log in requirements just to comment.
    5. promote on social media. this is where you find people online. you can target your audience by building a fan page specifically on your niche.
    6. respond to every comment as much as possible to encourage them to keep commenting

Go to the amazon affiliate page, Find football accessories and supporter shirts and what not, And put affiliate links to them with images in the sidebar or in a post, it might make you a few bucks.

Well you certainly missed a trick by writing a review of FIFA 14 & not including an affiliate link ;)

I work with football myself, FIFA/Pro Evo & the new kits are always worth promoting at the start of each season, but I wouldn't bother past September - everyone who wants them has bought them by then. Match tickets seem to be a no-go due to the prices such companies charge, but I'm sure it will work if you can find someone with better prices - make sure to let me know if you do!

The biggest seller for the football niche though is without a doubt gambling, which provides the vast majority of my income.

This. Although if you know nothing about sports betting it can be difficult writing content that converts.

You can monetize almost any type of site. There's the obvious Google Adsense, but I think you could make more as an Amazon affiliate. A lot more. There's so much that you could mention in your blog, such as your favorite football videos and games, sports equipment, training videos, etc.

You could also make a fair amount by selling advertising space, although I think doing an advertising exchange with some other related sites could be mutually beneficial.

You would think so, but Amazon has flopped hard on every football site I've put it on.

I wouldn't use the "tools" provided by Amazon, but just the link, when you review something. Or, an image of it along with a product link.

I've never found real success with the carousel or any of the other product 'tools'.

But, the benefit of Amazon is that so many people know it and have accounts on it. There's less chance of people balking when they realize that they would have to register for yet another site and submit their credit card info.

When they follow the Amazon link, even just to see what you're mentioning, they may look at other things on Amazon and purchase those instead. You get commission for whatever they buy.

Try different methods of sprinkling Amazon links. Do a review or update of latest FIFA video game maybe. You could also show an image of a new football gizmo, while just casually mentioning it. The image is a link to the product on Amazon. Or, maybe its something ridiculous for sale, that you know nobody would ever buy. Curiosity could take over and Voila, a sale of something else! All they have to do is buy something before the cookie expires.

Sometimes, showing the product can actually be a form of interesting content for your visitors. You just have to figure out a way to present it, without making it seem like you're pushing a sale on them.

Overuse of advertising can really turn off one's visitors, but carefully placed, they can still earn you money and not turn people off.

    * I don't like it, but almost nobody in the US is an Amazon affiliate right now, because of all the political crap going on between the states/feds and Amazon. On the bright side for you, you'll have a lot less competition from US sites. Maybe it'll make a difference in sales this year.

You can monetize your blog as long as your product is targeted to the majority of your visitors of your site! Since this is a soccer blog I would sell something that a soccer enthusiast would find value in and buy.

Surprised not to hear about sportsbook affiliate programs. Football fans might be interested in betting on the game. Some good UK focused sportsbooks are Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Sky Bet.

For the moment stay away from William Hill, they might be a well known brand for players in the UK but they have a bad reputation with affiliates that relates to tracking and affiliates we talk to say they don't trust their results with the program. If you do work with this program work on prepaid basis.

Have you tried sportsbook affiliate programs? They pay out some high CPAs and great commissions.

A few recommended sportsbooks you could work with include Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Coral. Be cautious with William Hill, they might have a great brand presence in the UK but many affiliates are not happy working with them and don't trust their tracking at all. Many affiliates that do work with WH tend to request an advance payment up front plus revenue share to ensure they at least get something if tracking or results doesn't add up.

I own PremiershipTalk.com, and I've made a living from it since 2008. Feel free to shoot me a message...I'm 100% interested in helping out a fellow footy blogger! Bigger football sites helped me get a start in the industry, so I love passing that on.
