If I build a sandbox around a Palm Tree, will I possibly harm the tree?

    My plan is to build a box around this tree and so that the tree is in the middle of the sandbox. I don't want to harm the tree so I am wondering if I will potentially harm it by covering all the roots and surrounding area in sand. I'd also like to put a bottom on the sandbox which might prevent rain from getting into the ground right around the tree. Is that a bad idea. Any suggestions?

    This forum is for google sandbox but at home depot they tell you to put the tree in the ground put some rich soil over it then sand then the top layer soil. hope that helps:rolleyes:

    That's not a good idea. Your money tree will wither if only the surrounding sandbox areas are linked to it. This will prevent the visitors from raining in and helping your tree to grow the money.
