You could contact the original developer and ask him I suppose...

But the real question is why you would want forum software that the original author doesn't even use any longer and is based on PHP 4.x? :)

I know it sounds weird but I am mainly looking for any good forum software that is no longer developed that I can revamp and make a new forum software out of. So if you know of any forum software that is good but is no longer developed and is worth revamping then please let me know. Oh and I would start from scratch but at the moment I am on my own so it would be a lot of work. Thanks for looking though.

Well you will run into copyright issues regardless unless you have the original author's permission since you can't make derivative work based on it.

Thanks, I will always ask the original developer first and that's why I am trying to find some open source ones.

They don't I just thought that if I chose one that is still in development that I will be hated.

Not always. Software forks are common and some work out better than the original.
