Has anyone ever used 99 designs or any other crowdsourcing service?

I was looking to get a website like www. bensbargains.net done for myself and i was just wondering what the best options are...obviously i dont want to clone or outright copy it, im not looking to get sued...but i mean the idea in general is to post deals and collect from affiliate programs at the end of the month.

I've thought about attempting to hire someone from DP but i'll be honest with you, i dont know what a site like this entails..html? css? (whatever other programming language etc) you know, ive never had a site built for me, and i thought that...if i hire 99designs, although it will be more expensive to say the least...i know that at least there i can get it all done in one spot.

99designs is too expensive. I tried getting a logo recently, it was not that good and it costed me $299. I am going to call them for refund. I would suggest outsourcing to a decent agency.

99designs is a hit and miss service. Sometimes you'll pay the money and get a great design and sometimes you'll pay the money and receive a piece of poop. If i were you I would hire a freelancer. First you should send the web designer an idea and example of what you want and you're budget, then you'll probably have to negotiate some other fees, but it's usually worth it. Check out their portfolio first, usually good freelancers have a Dribbble or Flickr with their work, make sure you like their style.
Once you have a design you can look on Fiverr for someone willing to code it up and install a script. People will do that for like $5. Good luck!
P.S. my favorite web designer is from creativemints.com. You can find other Web developers by doing a Google search.

how much do you think everything should cost me?

i'll also have to sign up to all the affiliate programs etc..

You can't give likes as you don't have more than three likes yourself.

But don't worry, I'll do it for you, interesting for me too!

The cost depends on who designs your website and who codes your website. If you hire a top-of-the-line freelancer the basic website interface could cost over $1000! If you have a smaller budget try finding graphic and web design students at local colleges or post your request on an online job board and ask for a student. Often time students can do great work at a cheaper price. Ask to see the student's portfolio first, then only pay them some of the money upfront to get them started. When their done, give them the rest of their pay.
Also try doing the same for a website coder, look for a student who's willing to work at a smaller price than a high-end developer. Or, as I said, Fiverr is a great source to find website scripts and developers for $5.
I've paid a bright eyed student $15 once for a simple website template and another $30 to code it. A fair price though would be around $100 for the design, but like I said, you could find one for less. A really cheap way to get a website is to outsource it to Philippian or Indian workers, but you may get very bad quality work.
    Good luck! :)

Yes then you would need someone to "slice and dice" your design :)
If mike from creativemints gives you your website as just photoshop files (PSD's) you'll need to take the designs to a place like
    PSD2HTML, Slice n Press
    or W3-Markup (dot) com.

It gets a little crazy for sure! But just take it by steps:
    1)Design
    2)Code
    3)Website Launch
