Is Success Possible when you are 16?

Hi! I'm Howard! 20 this year.

And here's my story...

4 years ago, when i was 16,
My family was in a financial crisis.

Money was hard to come by,
Everything was expensive
And jobs were hard to come by.

If you remember, that was the year 2009,
When the financial crisis was at it's worst.

Life was getting hard.
Many a times, we had to plan very carefully
How we were going to spend the money we had,
And what to spend it on.

Amid all these hardships,
My parents never for once asked me to
Leave school to work.

Instead they did the opposite.
They encouraged me to study,
To learn,
And to be better,

So that in the future,
I would not have to suffer like them.


But deep down in my heart
I really wanted to do something for the family.

So i spent all the time i could spare,
Everyday after i finished studying,
To research about
The different methods of making money.

And i tried everything i could get my hands on.
From online surveys to
Giving out flyers on the streets.

I tried them all.

But everything was either to tiring or
Didn't pay well enough.

Eventually i stopped doing odd jobs
And online surveys.
Because it started to affect my grades.


Then i was back to square one.
No income.

This time i was desperate.
I went online desperately trying to find something.

And i stumbled upon something.
A video after a man drawing countless amounts of cash
From the ATM machine as if he owned a bank.

That was what moved me into
Researching how did he mananged to do that.

The word that came out was list building and
Internet marketing and blah blah blah.

Things i never heard about and
I labelled it as SCAM!

Don't worry k?
I am not trying to sell you anything.

I just want to tell my story to inspire others.


Okay to continue...

But i decided to do research
Instead of paying and
Attending his coaching program.

So there after, i spent days
And weeks
And months

Researching about internet marketing.

And still i had
No income.

I and realized why.
It was because i was scared.
I was afraid to fail.
I was afraid of this foreign term,
Internet Marketing.

So i steeled my resolve
And spent 50 dollars
On an auto-responder and
A hosting system.

And i created my first website!
I took an ebook i saw from one website,
Those free give away ebooks

And i started to rewrite the content.
That was the first ebook that i ever gave out.

After that, i was just driving traffic
And driving traffic,
And driving traffic ...

And finally after 2 months,
I got my first Sale!

And it was enough to last me the next 2 months.

It spurred me to work even harder
And by 2011, I was earning $100 per month.
(This 100 is excluding hosting and auto-responder fees)


It took me 2 years.
2 full years to reach that mark.
2 years of research
2 years of trial and error
2 years of failing and trying again.


Wow, now that i am writing this
And i think back about it,
I really feel that i have become
More Mature
And that i could appreciate
My success better.

Hey 100 per month is a success to me okay?
A small one at least.


Wait, just spend a little while more
To finish reading my story k?

I think i must be crazy
Because a month later,
I invested $2000 in a coaching program
(from the guy in the video)

And i couldn't believe it.
Through this 3 day program.

On the 1st day, I heard everything
I have learnt in the past 2 years
All presented in one day.
And i was like....... WHAT!!

Then the next 2 days taught me much more.

The saying is really true!
Knowledge is power.

But i prefer to say
Only those who use that knowledge
Become powerful.


Learning without actually putting
That knowledge to good use
Is like growing apples
And not eating them
When they are ripe.


So since 2012,
I broke through my previous high,
And started to earn a full time income
Varying between $2500 - $5000 per month.

This was able to
Support me in university studies,
Support my lifestyle needs,
And Support my parents.


Told them to retire early,
But they refused,
Saying life is better
When you have something to do.

In a way i agree,
But at least now they are not worried
About money anymore.


So if there is one thing i would like
Others to remember is that
If a teenager can do it,
You can too!

Have Confidence!
Persevere!
And Be Positive!

I know exactly what you are talking about... financial crisis, trying to help family , everything ... I am 18 years old and still not making money, but i think i am on the right way right now ...

It is true to achieve success in this business -- you need to find a method that has been proven to work and stick with it. It will takes lots of work and trial and error before you start to see the outcome of all your hard work.

It is important to remember that there is no magic button to make money online. However though -- if you work hard the internet is a great tool to make money and make it relatively fast.

 

Age doesn't matter. The point is what the talent or potential in you. Discover it first then learn from the real world, plan, do it, recheck, and take any action to complete your project. That's it.

 

Then i guess we are one and the same when it comes to having the right mindset for succeeding online. Great to have you here!

I got to disagree with you on this one man.

I believe that we will naturally discover our talents and potentials during the course of our life.
The more we experience, the more we learn, the more we grasp the opportunity that life has presented us with, will help us to grow as a person and we will eventually find out what we are good at. There after excelling and pursuing our passions.

I strongly encourage all my students and the people that i interact with to stop over-thinking the situation and just go in with an open-mind. Prepare themselves for success as well as the possibility of failure. Because only when we do, can we truly learn and become better.

Sometimes, i find that it is much easier to say things like: oh just do list building, or just drive traffic, or just do this or that.
The hard part comes when you coach that person through everything, when you yourself do and experience everything, then will you realize that actually it is not that simple.

That's why many of the well known members here are also well known for giving fantastic answers that help people, not just give them directions.

But i appreciate the post.

Well I have been lurking around for a while, I enjoy this forum because the information around here is straight up no bs like other am forums.

Howard your story made me do the 1st post. Very inspiring story, we can relate in a way now. Which is almost the same reason I got in to this. It can be discouraging at times because nothing in life comes easy. But if you really want something, you must be strong and carry yourself over the cliff. Because the rewards are a much better feeling, I have yet to experience. Still working hard on my site will pm you soon for advice.

 

I can't help but say wow there Howard! I've read your entire post and all I can say is you are amazing. Thousands and even millions of people do have financial problems like you but not everyone work hard enough to reach where you are. Continue to inspire other people.

Thanks so much! That's why after making my break online and earning a good stable income.
I actually thought about how others might be suffering like me when i was 16 and i decided to help others out.
It is sort of like a calling you know? Once you success and you earn money, you will ask yourself what's next?

For me it was trying to reach a million dollars, but i think give it a few years, i'm sure it will be there. After all, its just mathematics after you start earning decent income. But what made me happy, was seeing my other students succeed too! And seen i do not blog, they blog for me.

You got that right! But sometimes, determination is hard to come by. I prefer desperation forces people to achieve great things.

The original poster of this thread (Howard Lim) shows us that we can succeed at any age -- young as well as old. It just takes persistence along with the right tools and support. Sometimes minors are limited as to what they can do on their own, but with a parent or guardian's permission, they can access resources normally meant for adults.

 

Your story gives me hope. I am not sure how old you are now but your story is inspiring. It gives me hope to keep on moving forward and to keep on going towards my dreams and goals. If you can do it then anyone can. You have a lot to offer this world and inspiration is just one of the many things you have offered young people like myself. I am 24 and currently in college and just struggling to pay my tuition and bills each and every month since I don't live at home anymore but this story reminds me to stay strong and keep trying until I reach my goals.
