Exploring the possible uses of the "Asset Management" and wondering if anyone who is currently using it can provide a few examples how you use it? I realize its for limited inventory tracking etc just want some more explanations or examples how best to use this option.

If you'd rather PM me or send me an email please feel free to do so.

    Thanks.

In agony here...any current Optigold guru's who are well versed in the Asset Management section of OG? I simply need some examples how you might be using it to understand some of it functions/usefullness etc as currently unsure how I can use this but think it may help me in my day to day stuff. Thanks inadvance.

    Hi,

We really just use it to track all hard- and software we use and/or own.
    Nothing more than that.

You can set up a few fields to hold data you find inportant to know about those pieces.

    My 2 cents worth.

    regards

So you link it to customer etc then run reports seeing who has what piece of equipment as an example?

I am fairly new to opti. I already have all of my products entered but I need to know how to assign a particular product to customers. For ex. asset # 2 needs to be assigned to "John Doe." How do I get this link setup? Please help.

On the asset manager screen, you can set the asset with the "Customer" field.

I'm still having trouble. I went to asset and find the customer box and tried entering the customer's name or customer number that optigold assigned. It doesn't matter what I put in the customer field, I get the error "no valid customer linked to the asset record." Please help.

I guess that's why I've been having so much trouble. We have wireless internet access that doesn't require a login, so we never those up. Is there any other way to do it? Also, once this is done, will I be able to pull reports to show what equipmnet is in inventory and who it is assigned to?

No, it would have to be by login.
