How do you handle multiple websites?

    hey guys.

after reading more posts, I got another question.

okay. one tip that many people gave was that it's good to have multiple websites. someone even had up to 9 websites.
there is another tip which is to update daily.
and then, another tip is to write good contents.

    so here's my problem.

1st, it takes a lot of time to write a good content.
2nd, you need to write daily so you can update your site daily.
3rd, you have multiple (lets say 3) websites that means you need to write 3 good contents daily to update all 3 of them.

I just can't see how those 3 can work together.
can someone please tell me if that IS what you need to do? or am I missing on some point? or is that a little too extreme?

please let me know what you think. thanks

In your case, with no experience whatsoever, start with one site and don't expect it to make you a lot of money off the bat. Just set it up, do start with a domain name and serious hosting, and add content when you're inspired. Learn about link-building on here, about social bookmarking and all that stuff. Take it slow. How do you know you are even fit for this business anyhow?

If that one site gets a decent amount of visitors (say at least 1000 a day), ad adsense and perhaps some affiliate ads. Learn how to work that so it makes some decent money. Keep up the building of the website and the link-building as well.
Then when that project is showing some success, and you have inspiration to start a second site on a new subject, do that. You will by then have learned an awful lot that will help you get things up and running more quickly.

Personally though, one site works fine for me. There are advantages to having one big site as well as advantages to having several small sites. Wikipedia is a good example of one big site that is doing phenomenally well (though only making money through donations).

If you're a good writer it shouldn't take you long to write a 200-300 word article. I hired a few writers from here to write for me. I just add the new articles when I have time.

the idea is to make sites that automate themselves and that have content that don't need to be updated. should be pretty clear where that leads. :)

Once you get the websites done , you can update a website in 30 minutes- 1 hour.I have 7 websites active now .I usually have 3 of them going in dreamweaver at same time lol .I write a review then i personalise it for each site I own. I post one article on the weekends and have 3 websites listed in there. In beginning it takes time becuase you have to sign up for all these places but after a while it gets faster as you only have to login , copy and past .It does take alot of time.I try to update my site once a week and save all the links and do them all the same day.

There are also very good people here who will do article submissions ,link exchanges for you etc.I received very good price from somebody to write 5 articles and submit them to 1000 sites for me plus 800 article directories.

I personally have seen the benefits of article submissions in SERPS and recommend it.

There is nothing that says you have to updat a site everyday. Every few days is fine. As you sound like a complete beginner, I would suggest start off with one site until you familiarise yourself, and then, you can begin to exapand and create other sites.

    thanks for all the answers.

yes, I am a complete newbie in adsense.

here's what I am planning to do now.
    1. main site on my edited videogame movies. (update regularly)
    2. fanfic site that I can write on fantasy/romantic fictions. connets to main site. (update when I have time to write)
    3. personal blog. (update whenever I feel like writing)

by the way, does the main site and my 2nd site NEED to have different hosting address? or can I use the same but just give it a different title and design?

I think you can monetise pretty much any site on any given topic, of course, some better than others, but if you get lots of traffic you should be able to make money on any site.

It depends on what your site is about. Some niche sites don't have to be updated for months, and they'll still generate a lot of visits. Best bet is to hire an article writer or updater for your website.

I run several web sites and on my personal experience, more web sites always equals more money (at least so far for me), I do not update my sites daily, many of them get constant clicks from unique visitors but I do have one that gives me the most revenue, is the biggest and the one that I MUST update daily.

Hire writers and user rss feeds to push content to the sites. There are ways to make a profit off of more static type sites.

I run about 12 sites and blogs and I write almost all of the content myself. Some sites are updated more frequently than others, but nothing is aged more than a week or ten days before fresh content is added.

Since I like to write, it comes easy for me. I don't get bored making changes either, in fact I look forward to updates. BTW, no RSS feeds for me...just fresh content.

I wouldn't say update it everyday. Essentially, you want to earn money from your website without working on it.

Theres a lot of sites you can make where the visitors themselves creates the content. I love this kind of sites as it gives both free traffic and free content, as the visitors tend to spread the urls of their content to friends and relatives etc, on forums, and so on. People like interactive sites

You don't have to write all the content yourself and there is no need to pay $$$ to get content written. Get others to provide you with free unique content.

Sure, first you have to get your site up and running: Write some interesting content yourself, setup a blog or a forum on your site, get inbound links, submit articles & press releases, post at forums and ask people for their help, build tons of incoming links...

After a few months, you'll get more and more daily visitors, your rankings will improve, people will contribute on your site: post their comments, reviews, send you articles... Getting there takes time and effort, but once you are there it'll take only a few hours a week to maintain your site and you can jump on other projects (web sites).

If you want to build sites that encourage input (content) from your visitors, check out drupal.org - an open source (free) content management site.

    Good luck.

    Ivan,

I'd say that the key thing is to write about something that you like. It appears that you have already decided to do that and not pick some high paying niche keyword.

The content should flow much easier.

Also with some blogs you can write a few articles at one time and have them posted at different times (say four days later and than 8 days later). Use the date stamp to set them to publish in the future.

That way once you get in the groove of writing on one topic you can cover a few posting.

    1. first article
    2. second article follow-up - additional info

Key thing is unique content and right about what you enjoy at the start. That way it'll be easier to learn some tricks.

    Good luck.
