Hi friends, Is there any statistics for backlink VS page rank? What i am asking is, for example if we have 300 backlinks means then we will get page rank 1, did any relation exist between these two terms?
Hi, Backlinks are not the only factors to affect page rank. I have a blog with just 25 backlinks and page rank 1. The reason why it got to PR1 is because I have been posting content regularly and the site is active for about 3 years.
Pagerank has a lot to with the Pagerank of the websites linking to you. For example, if you had a website with a page that's actual Pagerank was 7 linking to your website, you would immediately become a Pagerank 4 (not sure if that's exactly the numbers but that is how it works).
I'm pretty sure this is not the case I have a links from PR6 and PR5 sites but I'm still PR1. So are my other blogging friends' websites
Pagerank is exactly what it says PAGErank. It gives individual pages a rank not just the domain. The link needs to be from a page that has a high Pagerank in order for the Pagerank to be passed on. Example: mywebsite. com could have a PR of 4 But mywebsite. com/page.html could have a PR of 0
Link juice is divided by the amount outgoing links, so for example if PR6 page send out 100 links, each link is only going to get 0.06 juice. Not the exact numbers here, but you get the idea of how it fractions. @OP PR isn't based on the amount of links, but the worthiness of those links. There is a point where the amount of specific PR links is needed to climb to upper PR, but no exact figures are ever released.
Yes, I've got backlinks to my homepage URL from a pr5 and pr6 domain. But my page rank is still 1. Can you tell me why that could be?
Sounds like a good point. I haven't thought about this. But is this said by Google? Or is it just another misconception? There are so many such revolving around the web.
It is true. You completely dilute the PR of a page by linking to large number of sites. You want to obtain links on pages that have high Or and few outbound links
Sounds like a good idea. How do you find out sites with few outbound links? To put my question in a different way, how can we find the outbound links of a site?
It's not the OBL of the page you want to know, it is the OBL of the page. Just go on the page and count them.
Or, if you are using Chrome, install the seo quake extension and it will display how many links are on a given page.
Thank you so much "Slice of life". This is one info i've been looking for a long time but didn't know it's on MC's page..lol.. can you also tell me this. I have a site. I allow guest bloggers to post on my site. If I have several guest posts and link to several blogs, will my site/rank be affected in anyway?
If they post bad content (copied, spun, etc.) and link it to "bad sites", then yes - you're also in danger of getting slapped for that. If the content is 100% unique, doesn't contain many links and the links are to actually reputable sites, then there's nothing wrong with it.
Yes, all articles are 100% original and I don't provide links to sites I feel are bad. For every article, I use 4-5 images. I name each image as keyword1, keyword2, ... I also use the keyword in ALT description. I've been pretty successful in ranking on top for certain keywords in google images. Can I do anything else in terms of image seo? Most importantly, I take these pics from other blogs/google images and use them on my site. Any harm for using others' images?
Then you should be all good regarding that, but... This can bite you back. Unless the images are CC attributed for your use, the content owner might pursue after you even in legal ways. The possibility for such might be quite non-existant, but there has been cases like this before, and they haven't ended well. Even with this you're most likely off the hook by just removing such content if shit does hit the fan, just don't say you weren't warned.
Looks like a really bad thing to do!!! Almost 50% of my images are of this nature and some of the articles are ranking in top of google search with those images. The real site from which I took those images are ranking below me!!! What do you suggest I do now? Removing those images/articles is equivalent to killing the site as those pages are the major revenue generators.
