Best places to advertise a Forum?

Hello everybody.
I'm creating a Forum, and I wonder where should I advertise it. As it is a "Forum", or "Website", I believe there should be specific sites to publish this kind of plataforms.

Could somebody show me the way to advertise a Forum at the beggining?

I know it's really hard to get users to a new blank website. Nobody wants to post on an empty forum.

Some free advertisement I can suggest off hand,
-Make a youtube Video
-post it everywhere that wont get you into trouble
-tell ppl, and tell them to tell ppl
-top-sites
-affiliations
-sig banners
- Social Networking Facebook

 

I'm already aware about the "social" advertising networks, and also to post "not legally" on other forums in order to "try" to get users.

But still, I have "few" money, which I will invest on programmers/hosting, and something on advertising.
I'd like some good site to advertise, on where people wants to join forums, or such, and I could pay to advertise there. Any ideas?

First of all you should have nice domain, content and theme. After for advertising at the beginning facebook groups is best solution.

I already have a domain, and theme. It's still not up, so I haven't content, nor it's finished.
But once it's finished, would like to publish it. I have few users who will help me at the beggining.

Now, about "FaceBook groups", how will it be best solution, if I do not know people who would join FaceBook groups? Or I invite "unknown" people through FaceBook?

I may suggest you to post in your forum some threads and share them on the social media networks, try to get attention and engage your connections. It is the point where you can start. Good luck!

Create a useful resource in your forum and share it in related facebook groups, make contests and draws that include participation.

 

I mean : create some useful and high quality posts in your forum, then share them with your friends, It is preferably to have a facebook fan page with more likes so you can request your fans to visit your forum and participate. Tweet your posts to your Twitter followers and so on..
