My system restart automatically many time in a day. I would like to know what is the reason behind of it. Could you please help me..Thanks
Well that could be caused by alot of things. I would start first with a memory test. Bad ram can cause blue screens and reboots. Could be bad sectors on the drive etc. Honestly alot can cause restarts. But start with a memory test. Try the one in the link below: http://www.memtest86.com/
Why don't you use decent software instead of that parody of an operating system? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions
Hello parkppc, When that happens to me, it's usually because I have a virus on my computer. I use Avast! antivirus software to check for viruses. I use Malwarebytes. To see if there are malware programs on my computer. They both have free versions that work very well. If all else fails, you'll have to get someone to check your computer. PC eSupport can fix your computer online in usually under an hour. It's a pretty hefty price though, $89.99. Corey
what software do you run on the windows xp system right now? I admit, I am a fan of windows xp, but it is highly vulnerable. If you are not using a solid anti-virus then chances are you are infected. So start with that, get a good antivirus (research the top 10 and choose the best one for you thats within your budget) Reality is though, that you need to upgrade to a newer version of windows. Of course, I realise this may not be possible. Other then this, I highly recommend that you consider to use windows xp and linux. You can install linux and windows to dual boot. Linux offers alot of software options that you might already be used to on windows, such as firefox browser, the vlc video players, open office suite. (I recommend linux mint btw) I find that hardware (especially laptops) that cannot be upgraded to run windows 7, run extremely well using linux, and I usually keep the windows xp still installed, so that if I do have a windows only program (or game) I can still go into windows and run that program.
Well, much was covered, but you forgot - heat. Could be that your PC (CPU, GPU etc.) is overheating and therefore reboots.
Boot from a Linux/Ubuntu LIVE disc and play around for a few hours, if your problem persists, then you know it's hardware related. Reseat everything. And clean the dust off everything.
The first thing you need to do is consider abandoning windows XP. Soon, it won't be supported by Microsoft any longer, and when that happens, it's going to really collapse as an Operating System. Vulnerabilities will popup, and compatibility will degrade. As many people have mentioned, typically a restart is a result of bad memory or overheating. My bet is on bad memory. (But I've had systems restart from overheating too. Try to start a computer without a heatsink fan and it will restart immediately lol). Hope this helps. What to do next: get a modern OS. I would recommend Windows 8.
Best thing I ever did. Yeah, consider saying goodbye. Then viral scans, memory checks as everyone else is suggesting.
