Can anyone tell me best way in SEO now a days, Is link building still got importance? I am running an ecommerce website, what will be the best ways to get best result.
Forget about Link Building dude, if you are not aware about recent things, you should read this article: http://moz.com/blog/7-reasons-to-remove-link-building-from-vocabulary
Or link build like CompareTheMeerkat does for CompareTheMarket, though nobody even sees the SEO going on there, they are so obsessd with directory submission, article stuff (spinning , guest posting etc), forums. blogs, SN's and other link erm link building stuff etc - now who was it who said "now go and build links"? when a bit of good content, good fun and all the rest (the link building part) then mostly comes any how... But wait I said the word "bit" now that could cause trouble!
Link building is still effective now a days but you also work on the private blog networking and social media. In link building you work on social bookmarking, Low OBL blog commenting, forum posting, article submission, web 2.0 these things will increase the ranking of your keywords in few weeks.
Link Building is still important!!!it will surely improve your page rank of SEO and with that forum posting, social bookmarking, article and classified are necessary for page rank!!!
Link building is still a vital factor for your SEO campaign, but you have to go for quality links rather than quantity. For eCommerce site you should focus more on content of your site, it should be useful for your site visitors and they love every time they land at your site.
I don't think there's a best way in SEO nowadays. I think it is relative to what you are promoting and the relevance of your content. If you look around the web, people are promoting various seo strategies or services. All you have to do is to compare their ways to other ways and then judge from the results and effectivity, not the popularity.
I always got results from link building with anchor texts, but these results were temporarily and my sites get penalty from search engines. I am building links with different un-related keywords like more info, read, rest of the story, source etc. so when you go for link building don’t use your main keyword as anchor text extensively. This will harm your campaign. Article submission and social book marking is also very important and plays a key role in search engine optimization.
Both content and links are very important.. you have to focus on content creation mainly, this way your site would be updated.... build quality links using relevant sites.. and vary anchor text. Try to build as much natural links as you can.
Today Link buildings Must Need of websites.. You will make good links from high quality ranking websites. You will following of Directory , Social Bookmarking, Press release , Article Sub, Blog Sub , PPT/PDF sub, Video sub, Infographics .... Thank You

Question for all of you: When Google launch Penguin updates, what do they target on? "Spammy" Backlinks right? So why do Google target "spammy" backlinks? Because Google still rank websites using BACKLINKS! Whoever says that backlinking is dead is dead wrong.
It depends on what your top 10 looks like. There are niches still dominated by blackhats. And those guys rank not thanks to links, but because they do javascript redirects and spin content at the speed that would make anyone's head spin. Google kills off their sites fairly quickly, but they set up an army of "new" sites overnight. So, it depends on the niche. In a niche, in which Google managed to nab most of the popular link sources, links are not easy to come by. But I can't even think of such a niche from the top of my head right now. It still seems that if it's a fairly competitive niche, links are still important to have. However, they should come from websites that are not on Google's radar as bad link sources. How you do it is another question altogether.
Link building is still very effective, but it has to be done right. I wrong move and you site can get banned very quickly. Don't focus so much on your main keyword when linking, keep it to 2 - 3 percent of all linked keywords, and always add misc. keywords to the mix like "click here" or "read more", etc. Also don't focus on just one page of the site. Send 10 - 15 percent of the links to the page you are trying to rank, which I am guessing is a page other than the home page, but add links to other relevant pages and the home page too, then you link your relevant pages back to the page you are trying to rank.
In my opinion, website promotion (SEO) is the best way to get engaged in your business. Do, proper and regular work for your website. It can derive some good traffic to your website and these can be converted into your customers too. Also, SEO is long term activity, which helps you make some hard money too.
