    The Page Rank of a site is calculated by various algorithms, which are made by search engines (Google). Simply said the Page Rank is calculated depending the number of links on your site; Which are:
    1. Backlinks.
    2. Inbound links.
    3. External links.
    4. Internal links.
    5. Do-Follow links.
    6. No-Follow links.

    As I understand it No-follow links don't pass PageRank, however, they do act as they are part of the equation that calculates the amount of PageRank that do-follow links pass on the same page. I don't understand it that well, however, even Matt Cuts said a while back that google's algorithms aren't that great and sometimes a no-follow can pass PR

    Getting backlink is a familiar method to increase page rank but google has 200 factors derived to get rank for web sites such as social media signals, domain age and so on

    @Pooja, Page Rank is just a metric ....
    PR is not a determinant ranking factor. Ok, its great if you want to sell links, almost all webmasters want high PR links, but ... if you want a strong site, PR shoud not be your priority.

    NoFollow links are undoubtedly important, not only because they may pass PageRank, but because having such links in your backlink profile looks natural and such links can deliver high-quality traffic.

    I think PR is only a visual indicator, that does not influence your website ranking.
    I have some PR 1 website that rank well that PR3 website

    you are right alb3rt1, it just indicator for users and it never helps to get the rank in search engine result.

    You just update the content of your blog and also do the internal linking then you just work on the niche related websites. If you will do these things your website or blog Page rank will be increased when Google update it.
