Their pages rank because of authoritativeness and traffic.. So you have to compete with them by providing more quality content and link building....
You don't overtake, if you keep thinking that you have overtake them, they will be always better then you, go focus on your site instead, and get your share of traffic, I list first above hundreds of millions of pages, because I don't really care what they doing, and I focus on writing something useful for people.
They have a great staff to manage their business. They add more than 10000 pages per day in their database. If you can do so, you can beat them.
