Now if I search for the keyword 'Graphics Design', how can I know where exactly my site is in the list of results???
And if you are not in the top ten, thanks to the barmy way the search results are provided you are not getting found very much! But what can you do...
You can manually check each position and find your URL if its there. But this would be very time-consuming so you must use rank trackers. I would personally recommend online rank trackers and SERPfox does very good for me - aside from reliable results, it also goes deeper the SERP than any other online rank trackers I've come across.
serpfox.com/pricing is nonsense! 50 keywords per month for $10 indeed How can serpfox tell where you are ranking exactly when it differs from place to place or person to person?
I just want to clear that I am not affiliated with SERPFox but they have a free plan wherein you can track 10 keywords max - pretty good offer for those who run their own personal sites. What do you mean differ from place to place or person to person? They have good reputation from WF and BHW of being reliable. That different results you may be talking about is more possible when using desktop-based rank trackers especially if its not properly configured and no country-specific proxy used. I've used SERPBook, RankCheckerAce and SERPFox and they seem to have unified ranking results despite the fact that they may be querying the Search Engines from varied data centers. The only reason I've settled for SERPFox is that they provide deeper checks in SERP whereas the other two only checks the Top 100 or 150+.
That Google results differ that way and more so for those logged in than those logged out or using other ways to search like say the ingcognito way or other browsers or various other methods, which at tmes offer slightly less skewiff results than the ones when logged in. Either way though results differ from place to place and person to person so whatever serpfox is saying is the position is what exactly? The position for US searches logged out of Google perhaps or world wide but those rather strangely deciding to use Google.com instesad of their local Google, what sort of positions is this able to offer that correlates to anyhing actually real? Google tends to provide resuts to users based on a number of things and very few tend to change those things like deleting their history or remembering to log out or use things like incognito or other browsers or whatever method, so what exacly and how exactly is this serpfox or other programmed software using to acssess what positions are where for who exactly? It's not a case of my thinking you are promoting or affiliated with this or any other software btw
This is the very reason I would recommend online rank trackers as they have de-personalized everything depending on what Search Engine you are tracking keywords with i.e. you get to specify if to track with Google UK, Google CA, Google AU, etc. Its the matter of how they coded their system (which I cannot tell how) so it doesn't matter on whatever settings you have in your end. Definitely using incognito to check rankings is a great idea. Alternatively, you can de-personalize everything yourself using a few parameters: &pws=0 -> Turn off personalized results &hl=en -> Set interface language in English &lr=lang_en -> Get results that are in English language &gl=US -> Search results from US location &cr=countryUS -> Search pages from US So if I make a full search in GOOGLE.COM for the keyword 'digital point' for instance, then you can copy paste this as URL location: http://www.google.com/webhp#q=digital+point&pws=0&hl=en&lr=lang_en&gl=US&cr=countryUS So I would say online rank trackers are set to query search engines this way more or less so you get de-personalize results.
The incognito thing only seems like a good idea. Personally in most cases I still think if you are not in the top 20 for things you are targeting paying for anything that tells you how badly you are failing is bizarre. But each to their own as they say. Still your recommendations may work for others but not my thing as I just want to see if or how close I am to page 1 for what I target so have no need of such things, especially when i can get the info for free elsewhere. I would doubt their system personally until proven beyond a doubt to me personally, especially as it is coded by someone/other people and you don't know what maths it is using... I take a lot of convincing on most things btw
That's why I recommending those because they're free and automated. Its really good if you don't have time to manually check it yourself from time to time. Micrositemasters, SERPFox and RankCheckerAce can offer free rank tracking...I don't know where do you want other free service especially if they have a good reputation for many SEOs and Webmasters. I was once hesitant, then I tried several rank trackers - both web-based and desktop software- and verified if they're reporting unified results. From experiments, you derive conclusions Anyway I'm not forcing you to follow what I say It seems you can after all accommodate manual rank tracking.
Briliant good luck with that then, I don't and won't be needing any of these things you keep recommending though, as to me it's useless crap no matter what others might say? I don't need to know if I am not on page 1 or 2 in a majoriy of cases and such crap is not free as it is 10 phrases in serpfox case only free, which is no use to man nor dog and merely an upsell quota item as an item so why are you trying to sell / recommend to deaf ears BTW I am stopping watching this thread as it is not something we will see eye to eye as I think the things you are recommending are rubbish - that is for my needs - if others are fool enough to fall for the nonsense > well what can you do. You could have 85 to 90% of so called SEO's say the opposite btw but unless a few I see as knowng what they are talking about said so, I would still only want to know why I should want to pay for something I can do cheaper or for free using better methods.
not really if anything it proves everyone has different opinions on most things scurvy. IMHO, for example, if you are not on page 1 then you are not getting enough clicks from being found in natural SERPS . Also IMHO if you are not on page 1 but someone is recommending you use a software (set to make you pay for it after you track 10 phrases when it will not help you actually get the page 1 SERPS) when you do use it's a waste of your good time designing graphics and the money you earn from doing so. To be frank though (not that my name is Frank ) it's not hit and miss, as it is about providing the end users the best answers to the queries. 'Graphic(s) Design' and related terms are on my radar as it happens in the not too distant, but it won't be a case of hit and miss when I get to tackling it!
^ No matter what you say, rank trackers are still essential. It is not about knowing whether you reach the top 10 of the SERPs or not but it is about keeping track of your SEO progress. I mean, after you have done some link building, if you do not know whether your keyword ranking is increased or decreased then how can you know that your link building is effective or not? And when you have a few hundreds of keywords of which you have to keep track, rank trackers are necessary. I just do not understand why you are so against the use of rank tracking software? And calling what people recommend rubbish is not a nice way to put it.
Try this nifty tool http://whatpageofsearchamion.com/ this is awesome, I am always using it, helps me track and you can use any google, .com, .uk etc
That's just your perspective as someone who does and worries about what you call link buildig and to boot has the name seoexperttools as a username though... And I can say something is rubbish if someone can't prove to me a reason why this thing should even work given the way Google works these days, or did you miss that small point. I also never said I was putting it nicely I am putting it how I see it from my perspective, just because you don't want to hear that there is more than one way to look at things, well hey ho, enjoy using your software that quite likely form what I cna work out gives you false info then. I could say it is not nice to lead people to pay for something they likely don't need, but I suppose that would be just rubbish and not nice to eh?
