    Do this:

    1. Start with your website. Craft content that uniquely targets each keyword you are targeting. Be sure to don't go overboard with keyword usage. If you use WordPress I would recommend using WordPress SEO by Yoast. Enter your targeted keyword and follow the examples. Be sure to optimize all of your images with your keyword. Also, link to other pages of your website.
    2. Produce quality content. Start blogging. Don't do it as an an afterthought. Put some effort into it and write an article that someone would actually be interested in reading. The more content you can put out, the more stuff you have to promote on social media that originates from your site.
    3. Use social media. Don't just share the links from popular blogs/sites on your niche. Talk to people. Everyone is sitting on social media just like you - waiting for engagement. Be the one that gives it to them and people will notice you. Comment on other people's Facebook pages, retweet and tweet to people, get on Google+ and join the communities. The point is get to know people. Also, find out who writes about your industry - talk to them on social media.
    4. Get some links. I could list a million ways here, but for starters you can release a press release (newsworthy, tie it to a contest), get in some industry-related directories, and join some relevant forums.
    5. Guest post. Be everywhere your industry hangs out. Get featured on a few of the noticeable sites so you gain a link, authority, and exposure.
    6. Experiment with paid ads. Try doing some ad buys or paid advertising through social media and high traffic websites. Examples: Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon. Always best to advertise some type of giveaway or contest. You'll get lasting exposure and more interaction - even if you don't get sales.
    7. Google Search Operators. Get to know what these are. They'll help you to find all of the relevant sites for your niche. Comment on posts that are relevant to your niche (especially on high traffic sites). Don't do it for just a drive by link. Add something that will make the site owner notice you. You'll just look like an ass if you come off like a spammer. Hint: Comment on Commentluv blogs.
    8. Measure everything. Use Google Analytics from the very beginning. Get to know how to use UTM tracking in your links. Look it up. When you do ads you should create a campaign in G.A. and add a tracking link. If you measure everything you will know what works.
    9. Rinse and repeat. Stop doing what didn't work (or make it better). Improve what you did before. Try something new. Keep going. Consistency wins.
