    I want to design best and attractive logos. So I want to know that, which the best 'free' software (windows OS) available to design attractive logos? Please help me.

    Well if you want to design the best attractive logo's you should be going for software that the best designers use such as Photoshop.

    As far as free alternatives go you have:

    • Gimp
    • Paint.NET
    • Pixlr
    • Splashup
    • Inkscape
    • Photo Pos Pro
    I've only used Gimp and Paint.NET from the list above and Paint was what resembled Photoshop more closely in my opinion.

    I used to design all of my own logos, but I now figure "why bother?" because it's so cheap to just hire an expert.

    If you want to get into it anyhow, you really should get an old copy of something like Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop ... you can buy an old version on eBay for like $20, or check at a something like a 2nd hand bookstore/music/computer store for the old DVDs.

    Plus you can also download all of the new Adobe stuff online for a 30 day trial and you can practice on that stuff as well.

    If you want to do this as a business man, you really need to learn photoshop! It's has come great feature to make great looking logos. Plus you all the free training on youtube.

    I would recommend Adobe Illustrator, there are plenty of tutorials for it on YouTube too so you can learn pretty quickly! I would also advise offering a logo design service on a site like fiverr just so you can build yourself a portfolio.

    You could design a nice logo with paint if you wanted it, is all up to your sense of aesthetics and marketing skills :) Just kidding, go with Gimp.

    Yes I may need to pursue some good design software. I used to just use the Logo Contest Forum on DP however that is no longer an option with the new rules.... at least for now.

    Inkscape is the best cos its a pro grade vector software and vector is what you need for logos.

    If you're a designer, I recommend using Adobe Illustrator (highly Recommend).
    easy to use, many tutorialsites, and the menu is almost similar with adobe photoshop.
    and dont forget.. VECTOR format is very important and very suitable for all graphic design purpose.
    Easily to be resized without loss of image quality :)

    Illustrator and photoshop are best.
    But for a newbie , just use paint.net with few icon fonts / dingbats and try creating a flat logo for you.
    I used this method some 5 years ago when i was new to designing. :)

    You should be using Adobe Illustrator for the logo designs. You can give final touches to the logo in Photoshop.

    agreed with all those who recommend illustrator.I been designing logo on fiverr.Had tried many logo software like the logo creator etc.I end up still using photoshop illustrator.It's still the best.Don't waste time looking for other alternative for logo creation.

    I run a full service design studio and Paint.Net does everything I need it to do and then some, but I do have photoshop on a seperate PC incase I need to do some super detailed layering
