Hi friends, Read through many posts and still in confusion to figure out how the search engines are optimizing the website.Is only the content matters or there any factors which mark the performance of the website in Google rank?

Bottom line.... They are looking for a "USEFUL" site. I know that term is very broad in nature, but think about it for a just a minute and you should know exactly what I mean.
IMO, these days search engine have become (especially Google) bit extra smart. They look for what your visitors are looking for. You content should be appealing, you should have content rich website, with updated information. update your website frequently to attract search engines again and again. Try to build relationship (links/ votes/ likes) to build repo and domain authority website must be user friendly and seach engine friendly I believe if you just fulfill the above requirement, you don't need to do anything special, may be some hardcore SEOs will not agree with me, but this is what I believe.
