First of all, this site isn't yet another PR 5 domain. This is a legitimate PR 5 domain with legitimate high power PR 9 and other PR backlinks.

Just to see the power of the backlinks of this website, see the backlink portfolio below:
    This domain has:
    • 1 x PR 9 link
    • 1 x PR 6 link
    • 4 x PR 4 links
    • 2 x PR 3 links
    • 12 x PR 2 links
    • 18 x PR 1 links
    • 17 x PR 0 links
    • 1783 x PR NA links (MajesticSEO downloadable limit)

You must see both Historic index and Fresh index to get a perspective of link profile.

Historic is how many links it had it the past, it does not have those links any more so it is no longer relevant and you should never base a price on historic links. The fact is that now it only has 300 links pointing towards it and that's what should be taken into consideration.

It also has 100 referring domains which is a huge difference compared to 951 as it is stated. Also many of the 300 links have been deleted. U should definitely reduce the price by A LOT

No, you are wrong. I had the same idea and checked with Majestic SEO support team. What they are saying is Historic index is their LARGE database that they update once in 3 months. Since they take about 3 months to crawl the entire web, this is the master copy. Fresh index is another database which is being updated monthly once and hence it has only partial links of any website.

Since they do not have ability to crawl the entire web in one single month, fresh index doesn't give the full picture. At the same time since the historic index is 3 months old, it doesn't give the full link portfolio as many of the links would have got fallen back. Their support team suggested me to look into both Historic index and Fresh index to assess a website's portfolio.

You can read more about this on http://www.majesticseo.com/support/faq

You are wrong. The website doesn't have just 300 links. Checkout my excel.... That itself has over 1800 live links which is just part of the link portfolio of the website.

Have reduced it to a reasonable ask. Feel free to bid on.

I'm pretty sure that I'm right... and to remove any confusion just check the domain in Ahrefs

it has 118 referring domains in Ahrefs which is very close to majestic fresh index and Ahrefs does not have fresh/historic index.... but just to be extra sure I also checked in Alexa which says 31 domains linking in... so the fresh index definitely is correct...You can still get something around 200-300$ for this domain though...

Each tool has their own pros and cons. I use MajesticSEO because they claim to have world's largest link index next to Google. No one tool can give exact link portfolio as the web is quite large and no one tool can consume that amount of backlinks data. I agree Ahref does a decent job, but Alexa data is BS. Their stats makes no sense at all.

Anyways, back to the topic - By all means this is a great domain to have, especially with the PR 9 link, the chance of getting a PR hike in next Google update is positive. I will wait to see if a lucky person comes forward to grab this domain :)

Very interesting. It seems you are correct about Majestic and I have been misinformed. I was under the understanding was an older snapshot of the domain.

However, Ahrefs ares showing a similar picture also:

Only 930 backlinks showing with 118 referring domains so it is a bit of a head scratcher.

Interesting comparison here between Ahrefs and Majestic:

    http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/experiments/ahrefs-majestic-seo-1-million-domain-showdown/

As for the domain, if it loses that University link it will probably drop down to a PR4 so it is a bit of a gamble.

Regardless, I hope it goes well for you and you sell the domain.

Yes, indeed, each tool has their own way of telling things. Interesting comparison though.

I doubt that. Not sure if the university guys care about their website anymore. It looks like a side off website. For the whole period I had this domain (7+ months), the link stands still!

Was there a PR update while you had the domain?

I would have guessed a PR9 backlink would have kicked it up to a PR6 minimum or maybe even a 7?

Yes, there was one update. This domain was originally PR 6 then and got dropped to PR 5. I should have built few decent links which would have made PR 6 to be sticky for this domain which I missed. I purchased this domain at PR 6 status for $1100. Lol :) Worst example to lose money!! This is because I scrapped the project that I had for this domain.
