Other than SEO & using RSS feeds are there any other effective ways to drive targeted traffic to a website/blog ? Of course there are many other methods like social media marketing, article marketing etc which is also very good but from what I have learned none of these methods are as good as getting into the 1st page of a search engine for a good keyword or getting many subscribers to your RSS feed when it comes to driving targeted traffic. So im wondering are there any other methods to get targeted traffic rather than RSS and Search Engines ?
The best way in my opinion will be your email list. If you're not already building a list, start now. That way, each way you blog you can promote the blog to your list. It's a great way to get additional traffic and even drive sales.
All of the methods of Inbound Marketing are good and very effective ways to get targeted traffic. The base of Inbound Marketing is content (blogs, e-books, reports, video, infographics, webinars, etc.). Then a whole set of tools to promote that content (and eventualy - your offer): guest blogging social media forums word of mouth Q&A sites newsletters comment marketing and SEO of course.
All of these suggestions are great. But if I may take it one step further, you will also want to network the individual marketing strategies together so they not only drive traffic, but cross-promote as well. In this way, you create more geometric growth and offer potential visitors more touch points and sources of relevant info. I hope this is allowed, I recently published an article on this topic, if you'd like to check it out, I've pasted the link here. I try to be careful with this, so as not to appear that I'm doing shameless promotion, but I think the article has value all on it's own. http://goarticles.com/article/Web-Marketing-Tips-Drive-Traffic-Become-A-Customer-Resource-By-Using-The-Wagon-Wheel-Marketing-Method/7702712/
I've just started to get into list marketing, and testing around with a way to do it right. Trying to integrate CRM with a mailing list, which is proving pretty difficult - but should pay off quite well if I can get the right balance of scripts and performance.
You can get targeted traffic with Facebook ads! It's a paid method, but has nothing to do with search engines. If you're promoting a squeeze page and in your follow up emails an affiliate product this is one of the suggestions! Go to alexa and type a url of affiliate offers site. You will get, in the most of the cases info on people who visit that site (age, male or female, education, keywords and categories). This will be a good direction to create you PPC or PPM campaign.
