How come I don't have a page rank?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by Triexa, Dec 3, 2006.

After more than a week, I am wondering why I don't have a page rank for askitonline.com?

If I search for "askitonline", there are 30,000+ results. I know I have plenty of inbound links, etc.

Any ideas why I don't have any rank?

If you don't have PR then it means its PR0 ... wait for next PR update.
PR is updated 5-6 times in a year.

1 week? You are really impatient... ;)
Google PR updates in about 3-4 months. The last one has been sometime in october/september, I think.
So wait till Jan, or Feb.
    Bye :)

Hmm... okay. That's news to me :)

I remember back when google had the "dance"... and everyone would prepare for the update. Now they update daily.

How come the PR is updated so rarely?

They update the internal pr very often, but the pr visible on the toolbar is updated only infrequently. They don't want webmasters paying too much attention to it. So your site can increase in pr, but still show pr0 in the toolbar. What counts isn't pr anyhow, it's getting visitors to your site. PR is only one aspect of that.

you have to wait for some time, when your site is up for more than 4 months and you still have pr0, then you start to worry.

This could be to prevent SEOs being able to reverse engineer the algorithm too easily. Alternatively, it could be because setting it up to display an up-to-date PR just isn't one of Google's priorities at the moment.

Be patient. It wont be easy for a one-week site to get PR. Waiting for next PR jump anyway.

you need to get links from sites with PR, it will help your PR but then you have to wait till the next Google PR update before you can see if it's taken an effect, but then that data is about 3 months out of date anyway.

Why all the fuss over PR!? it's just a really really vague way to measure popularity

Just wait for Google's Update. Anyway PR does not matter most... What matter is your Quality Links.:)

Be patient, you really need that. It wasn't easy to receive PR or you wouldn't see the improvement on your site almost immediately after doing so many things for it. :)

Continue building backlinks with high PR websites until Google is updated.
