I must say that I've been the 'victim' of a lot of squeeze pages - I know what they are but I still subscribe to everything I see. My thought process is, I'll grab the free report with my secondary email and that'll be the end of it. I came across this and have favorited it- some of you might find it resourceful too. I'm yet to start making my first squeeze page but it'll be something I want to revisit then. So I want to ask - how do you all keep the interest of your leads/mailing list contacts?
This is a topic that could fill a book. But I do have a post on the topic... you can find it here: http://benholmesonline.com/how-to-craft-the-perfect-email-series/ In essence... don't sell them anything... just provide good and interesting content to your list.
just read your post, it's very good. I apply the same (or almost) techniques into my funnel. this is a very great read for all users. Thanks for the share.
I must confess - it's not my idea - I learn by watching other list builders - and seeing who has good ideas, and who's list I immediately unsubscribe from. There's only a couple of lists that I read EVERY email they send - and they follow this procedure. I've changed my email series on my list to provide information, and not selling. If you want a long-term business - you have to treat your 'customers' right.
That link is exactly what I need - I had some ideas/thoughts about it before but this really solidified it and gave a model that I would want to starting working with. Thanks! P.S. - How can I like posts? (I'm new here)
If you want to avoid taking on a bunch of non-responsive subscribers (like yourself, who uses a throw away email) have your auto-responder series be the content you are offering. If you were pushing a guide on "How to quickly do XYZ to boost your ZYX!" Instead of giving them a free report and rewarding them for using a throw-away email address, deliver the content using your auto-responder and pepper it with your affiliate pitches. This gives the subscriber what they wanted, allows you to email them more often without them getting annoyed and keeps them opening your emails. Example: Welcome Email - Introduction to Guide/Confirm Email Email 1 - Chapter 1 Email 2 - Chapter 2 Email 3 - Chapter 3 and so on... Good luck.
Thanks... I originally began with an email series that would pitch affiliate offers on every other email or so... but I'm moving completely in the direction of letting my blog do any selling required. I'm subscribed to dozens of lists - I pay attention to what others are doing - but there's only about three of them that I open each and every email I get from them - because they subscribe to the same system.
I'd recommend that you subscribe to a few dozen lists as well - you'll learn alot from watching others. Sometimes you learn good strategies, other times you learn what to avoid doing yourself. Also, start collecting list builder blogs - you'd be amazed at what some of these guys post for the world to read... in fact, the post that you commented on - one of my mentors told me I should turn it into a paid product! But anytime you can find someone actively blogging on the topic of list building - bookmark it. You'll learn alot from people who've been doing it awhile. I certainly do...
Thanks again! This is all very helpful for me (I wish I could like instead of leaving another message)
yes i recently open another blog myself and started to post there, it's pretty new and i have to work on it. i have created / sold a lot of blogs in the past making 4 figures per blog, that is good enough for PR 3/4 sites. and yes agree again with khadaji, the blog is definitely the best resource to pitch sales. As soon as you start learning you will understand this process. A blog is a MUST have for every IM guy looking to make good money and it's one of the main ways you will make sales with YOUR OWN products with affiliates, of course you also earn by promoting other offers. thanks!
yes it's a good post, could be interesting to make it looking eye-catching and start your WSO on the WF, it costs a few bucks, but you get a lot of email subscribers and you can also add an OTO or pitch everything with it, if you do a good job you can bump up and get steady list building (targeted) with no efforts, just another way
Yep... this exact technique is on my radar... I'll be posting a WSO in the next few months, just to get more buyers for my list. Just so much to do, and so little time! For those who don't know - posting a WSO, or the equivalent at this or other forums, is an excellent way to get a nice list of people willing to buy. My own preference is for a low cost info item - I'll probably go with $7 as my target price. Naturally, the more buyers you have on your list, the more valuable your list will be. I just deleted a list of close to 400 that were junk traffic generated... (Adf.ly - to be exact). I suspect that the demographic is just a little too young to be seriously interested in starting an online business. They never buy anything... although I might toy around with a download CPA offer with Adf.ly traffic in the future.
i would suggest to do a free WSO and add the OTO to monetize after your squeeze page and send them to your funnel. 2 advantages: 1 you get subscribers, 2 you get sales (this may vary from offer to offer). Start doing a few free WSOs and after you get a name there, you can post your full WSO. My 2 cents.
I've thought of that... but a paid WSO has it's advantages... it creates a tighter, more responsive list. On the other hand, I can't imagine that I'd get as many subscribers as with a free WSO. I'm still up in the air about which is better...
If you take this approach with sending traffic to a squeeze page and giving away something for free you have to expect people who operate just like you do. People who only want your free stuff and never to hear from you again. You will have to blow them away with killer headlines to get a certain percentage of people to open and seduce them through stories in your email that will influence them to click. When dealing with the squeeze page to email marketing techniques focus on getting large amounts of leads and focus on copywriting for your email marketing. Keep consistent with your testing and build a swipe file of subjects that get the highest open rates and bodies of emails that get the highest click through rate. Build the best relationship by delivering high value to your subscribers who click through in the email and they will continue to open.
start with a free wso and see how it goes. then you can move forward. With a free wso you get more chances to get leads because of the free offer. You can add an oto later. Test, test and test again.
My only problem right now is that my OTO offer is too good to give away as a freebie, and my actual freebie gift isn't expansive enough for a free WSO. I'm considering expanding my OTO offer to a two volume set, in which case I could give the first volume away as a free WSO, and use volume two as the OTO Since my OTO is a 74 page manual on list building - I could divide it in half - and have volume two be about nothing other than traffic. Just a few thoughts...
I don't care. If someone isn't interested in what I'm showing them, then I'd only be paying Aweber to have 'em on my list - I'd rather that they unsubscribe... it's not my loss. Either they're not ready to start an online business, or they're not interested in starting one. Nor is this idea that subscribers to a list offering a freebie are all non-buyers actually true... the idea that such subscribers will never buy is just downright silly. Probably concocted by someone who tried to start a list, then dropped it when it didn't provide him with a full-time income after 3 weeks... It doesn't matter what sort of list strategy you have, you have to have good headlines - this is the way the business works. And the best enticement to click is NOT a great story. If all you want is clicks, the shorter email works better. If you want sales, the longer pre-sell gets far less clicks, but more sales. This is just a little good on platitude, and not quite informative enough to follow up on. I went into some detail here: http://benholmesonline.com/how-to-craft-the-perfect-email-series/ How you set up your email series is going to have a large part to play in your open rates... whether you're a 'churn & burn' list builder, or whether your goal is a long-term investment with your list. Or even, might I add... a combination. 'Churn & Burn' to get your list numbers high enough, then shifting into relationship building phase... In a strict relationship list building model - there's very little room for adswapping to enlarge your list - but in the 'Churn & Burn' model, you certainly do...
the way i have found is to not only send out links to cpa offers, but to find good plr content that is relevant to what you are wanting to teach, and send that out free to your list. i also build sales funnels and lists for my clients to help them start building a list fast and give them a head start. i also offer fresh cpa leads to build your list with as well.
@cma040, Good question. Email marketing is huge because if you can't keep a prospect's interest, you'll never enjoy long-term, stable profits in your online business. In my opinion, your emails need to do a few things: 1) build your credibility as an authority/someone who knows what they're talking about in your niche; 2) increase desire to buy your product for those people who are "on the fence" about whether to buy; and 3) offer them something valuable in exchange for the time they spend reading it. Your email series will probably be a combination of valuable (free) content and pitches for your products. How you choose to balance those two components is up to you. It seems every marketer out there operates a little differently. If you haven't done so already, I recommend subscribing to Ben Settle's email list. He has a unique style where he combines offering free content and a pitch in every email. I think if you make reading the emails worth their while and don't spam, you're ahead of 95% of the people out there. Good luck. -Corey
