Shopping Cart That Allows Members Only Section

Discussion in 'eCommerce' started by Dee2007, Apr 29, 2013.

    Hi

My client wants to allow guest check out and also customers can register, however she wants a section of the site where the products are only viewable to registered members. Does anyone know a shopping cart that would allow me this option? Or maybe a cart that has this as a mod?

    Thanks
    D

Try magento, it has such option and more flexibility with custom mods. All the more you have access to sources and can easily modify it.

Thanks, but do you know of any others? It has to be easy for the client to maintain something I have not found with magento, also I found it to be very bloated.

    Hi Rashida

I took a look at that one, but in it's list of features it doesn't mention the ability to have a members only section?

The feature that you want to implement is may be available in Magento, so don't you try it.

Well, the best option for managing the member section would be OSCommerce due to its simple nature. You can also go for Magento, which compared to OSCommerce will prove to be tougher to manage.

In the Viart shop I'm using there is available such option, when you edit category or just product there is available [Access Levels] tab and there you can select who can view your product or the whole category, on this tab you can also select any user group who can have access to the section and it looks like this

    Non registered users [x]
    Registered Users [x]
    Customer Group [x]
    Wholesale Group [x]

With VPASP Shopping Cart you can set varying user permissions for different users. For example you could make only categories A B and C available to one user and categories A B C and D to another.

VPASP offer both an open source shopping cart and an all-in-one solution.
