How the heck are they doing this?

Hey everyone. So I had to get a new Paypal Debit card last week and I forgot to update Netflix with the new info. This morning, I received an email from them telling me that my old card was declined, but something caught my eye when I was looking at the message within my inbox. Check it out, you have the sender (Netflix) and the subject just like any other normal email, but there is a link, right there next to the subject that takes you to the page on Netflix where you need to update your info...

You can click the link without ever having to open the email. I looked over the email itself and didn't notice anything right away that would show me how they did it, and I searched Google but wasn't able to find any info either.

Is anybody aware of how to do this? Is this a new Gmail feature that I'm not aware of, or does this work with any other email provider as well?

I feel kind of silly since I'm supposed to be the internet marketing expert here and yet I'm clueless, but at the same time I'm on a lot of mailing lists and I've never seen this before from any of them.

Google started this just a few weeks ago. They look into common emails and ad these "external links" next to the subject line to save you time while skimming through your inbox. I think it's pretty neat while others see it as invasive.

You can always disable it in your settings! :D

No, I'm fine with it. I actually think it's pretty cool too and was hoping that it was something I could do as well to help boost the CTR on my emails. Thanks for that info though. Much appreciated.
