There is a few disputes going on between Google and EU, some related to competition, for instance
    http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/06/technology/mobile/google-motorola-antitrust/index.html

Others are more widespread including anti-competitive charges
    http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-v...offers-to-adjust-search-results-to-appease-eu

A lot more are due to individual EU countries' privacy laws etc, if you are such a huge company like Google, not being sued or getting into trouble with lawmakers will be a curiosity. Being sued is like drinking a cup of hot coffee in the morning, these giants are used to such.

Yep, check out the links above.
Also a lawyer from the US, that successfully sued MS in the past, started a case against google not so far in the past... unfortunately did not got long way with it...

Back to the main question - we are usually upset with huge, greedy companies, that manipulate their own results and blame their real source of funds/traffic (ourselves!), for being manipulated by us!

Soo, it is better to let the big guys fight on, and keep it low, as I doubt that anyone of us around here is able to sue a company with billions of dollars with any success...

Still I do not believe they will last too long.
Actually, I'd have bet on this forum instead :)

Foreign governments and populations are also upset at major Internet companies who have collaborated with the surveillance demands of the NSA. If US citizens have had their explicitly defined due process and privacy rights destroyed by their own government, as revealed by the phone/email scandal, you just know the NSA has intruded on the privacy of the EU peoples.

Because US is deep into global crisis thay are looking ways to increase income from taxes. Many companies use different methods to avoid paying taxes. For example, Google sells add space to advertisers in France from company registered in Ireland to avoid paying tax to France government. EU thinks that this job is done in France and not in Ireland and tax should be paid in France.

This is main reason not privacy :)
