What should we do in SEO now after Penguin update?

Good on page, but don't key word stuff.
When building mass links don't use exact anchor text.
Only post to sites whose home page is PR 1 or higher when building mass links.
Create a High PR private blog network of pr2 or higher that have alot of backlink and use those to create exact anchor text match links so you can control your most powerful links.

 

I've been focusing solely on blog posts and guest blogging. I've been doing each of my posts myself and have had great results. Adding fresh content to my site every single day has done wonders. I rank on the first page for 74 of my 111 keywords targeted in my Moz account and 53 are in the top 3.

 

I would say that only content, quality content would solve the problem, if you are providing content at regular basis, you may rank higher as well, there is no doubt to it.

Yes like as always content is the key, the main thing is that you should go for a particular plan that involve high quality on page and introducing those tasks in Off page which can be beneficial. Working on 1000's of directory submission website or social bookmarking sites is just wastage of time. Instead of that select website wisely and maintain content quality on your own website.

After the penguin update and even before the update all these activities such as directory submission, article posting, blog posting etc are effective, if you perform these activities in a proper way. Submit in high PR dofollow websites which are not penalized and not banned by search engines. Try to do activities on regular basis and use unique and high quality content.

 

We should use all strategies of SEO. Forum posting, blog commenting, article, press release, guest posting all are worth for the sites rank and traffic. But penguin update suggest not to do data entry type work. Bookmarking and directory are not worth for sites.

You should try to submit good content through press release websites, article submission, web 2.0 submission and guest posting. After penguin its essential to have different types of backlinks in your portfolio.
