    enough study and a lot of practice. read the seo forum as well as the link building forum. also do a lot of google searches. dont believe everything you believe. cross reference check and ask a lot of question here and there. over time you will get the feel for it.

    We have lessons on SEO on our site that can help yuo get a good backgroun on what SEO is and all that. Check out SEOMoz too. They have tutorials there for beginners and their blog is full of new SEO methods you can use on your own site.

    Links building tactics are spread across the web but I suggest you to go through webmasterhelp videos of on youtube it tells ifs and buts of how to build web presence inclusive of best back link building tools. Second keep interacting and asking questions at Search Engines webmaster forums and also keep asking lots of questions in here.

    Make mistakes the only way to learn is to make lot of mistakes.

    I read just about everything there is out there. What you often get is a lot of theory and often bad advice. One of the best things you can do is look at other sites ranking for terms you want to rank for and reverse engineer. Check link profiles in MJSEO, OSE, and Ahrefs. See how they setup their site. Don't plagiarize, but copy what is working. My favorite site currently for new info on SEO is Source Wave. The guy is a little crazy but I've been testing his theories and seeing success.
