Google, working for Google

So could you work for Google?

If so what position would you fill?

    What could you offer Google?

Myself, I don't think I could work for Google!

Among the reasons I could not work for Google is because, I hear say, Google like their employees to spend 20% of their time on their own things (during Google's time, hmm)

This would mean I would spend 20% plus of my time working on ways to beat Google (on their dime), which of course would never work as I would be working to undermine Google and that would never do.

So that alone would mean I could not realistically expect to work for Google, but how about you?

I could work for Google. I would learn all that I could from them, (not against them) to better understand exactly what they are looking for when it comes sites. My background is in administration so I would love to be an Executive Assistant to one of the leaders there and learn all I could learn from them.

It's true that you can take 20% of work time to spend for your own Project at Google. But.. Google is very strict on Reporting. You have report WoW (week of week) all your tasks and results. If Google confirms your own project and gives you a chance to do it, you will have to report it WoW basis, together with your all direct tasks.

Google do everything to be a Dream of employer, but myself couldn't be a part of it, because I do not like too much restriction and too much orderliness. And I hate their hire (Selection) program. I think this program is good just only for one type of people.

Yes I could. Keep reading :)
    Effective CMS creation.
    It would be:
    1. Very useful for both owner and Bot/search Engine.
    2. Uses new HTML format which is created by the team. HTML5 is the newest but HTMLX (not xHTML) would be invented and widely used.
    3. CMS which uses standard common scripts embedded in browser (chrome). It mean no additional load as browser already has it. Load time will be better and most website will be loaded instantly.
    4. Flexible and expandable themes or templates which depend on newest CSS. The CSS will be named as CSS-X which uses the element in Chrome. Browser has every picture with various color. CSS-X will use X code to call that pictures. The size of every website will be reduced by half. There would be software to convert picture into CSS-X codes.
    5. Linked automatically to the directory. Not all website in directory will be listed in SE. The directory will be used by the staff to list related category.
I remember senior staffs used to say "If there are two peoples with great skills and knowledge applying for a position, We prefer someone whom didn't want to work with us as the new employee."
I have no problem working for corporations or another peoples but...
Life is short so I prefer working for myself.:D

It is a great strategy of Google to capture your creativity.... and it would enhance the growth of the company..

I liked this 20% idea of Google means work for 4 days on your assigned job and spend one day whatever you can do creativity.. but this creativity would go to Google's credit. as you get paid for this.

    I would!

I'd love to be on the team that builds up the algorithms - would be fascinating!

My pet project would be putting together tools to help the folk who prosecute child pornographers and the like.

Sure, I would love to work for Google. I would be torn between three roles.

Linux and Windows server administration and support is my background, so that would be cool. However, working on the algorithm or in the webspam team would be much more interesting, though. In the long-term, I would prefer webspam, although for a few years developing code would be fun.

Pet project? Wouldn't spammers "SEOs" like to know. :p

Trying to undermine Google is actually beneficial for Google, especially if you're doing it on their time and they get to "own" what you created. Smart businesses know that identifying a company's weaknesses is a great way to solve key issues within the company.

It's funny you we're the first to see through that little aspect of what I said Slincon, as when I wrote it I realised that might actually be appealing for the G to.

It's a bit like employing hackers to test security and things along those lines...

Not that I would have had the educational background Google would want as when I was about 9 my Dad told me I was going to work at 16 and to get ideas of higher education (Uni and the likes), when I mentioned that was what I would like to do, out of my head.

Given that they would own the intellectual property from your little project it's success would just be fed back into the system for the next algo update. I doubt they'd be too worried.

What they really want you focussed on, though, is not a search related project but something that is, or will lead to, the next killer app. We're waiting, they're waiting... someone somewhere is working on it, it's just a matter of time

Funnily enough I have something Google would likely love as it could carry their precious adverts which are their bread and butter and I suppose it could be descriped as an app.

Not sure it would be what they are looking for in an "app" though as from what I have seen of apps I am not sure it would fall into that category. It could create a lot of employment opportunities though, but sadly words are my thing and not coding as I am writing a children's novel about my teddy bear cartoon characters so don't have time to learn what would be required to put it all together.

If you check my warnings you would see part of it was mentioned where I got that warning for thread hijacking. However it doesn't look like anything in particular with only a small part of things on show.

I imagine once it is all in place and my children's book is finished it would become appealing to the likes of Google and Microsoft and the likes.

I say children's novel. The book I am writing is for all ages and if I finish it on time for my self set deadline of 2015/6 it could if done right be a box office smash as a movie. I mean "Toy Story" "Harry Potter" box office type figures. I think Google would be very interested in things then, but as I said above I wouldn't want to work for Google.

I would like to see the UK better Google with a search engine that actually works properly and really serves up the best natural search results, which Google of course does not.

Now clearly my saying Google does not serve up the best natural search results it could is contentious it's self and of course presently they are the best of a bad bunch and my saying I am writing a book that could potentially be a box office smash is also just something to scoff at.

I have been toying with the idea of writing a post about it all as am presently losing a lot of my writing time trying to be too much of a control freak learning as many aspects of things on the net as possible so as much as possible id one how I would like it. A bit like how J K Rowling wanted to control things with Harry Potter and more so.

Still I could never work for Google though as I became a rebel tearaway from 9yo when I knew the future was not going to go my way RE going to Uni.
