Only thing that I am missing that I care about, is all of the conversations that I have had are lost and I didnt have their contacts saved.

It is a pity that more recent backups werent available, but at least its better then going back to January.

I can understand that, mistaken make perfection right. Managing this big forum must be hard. I really need this forum, thank's Shawn.

Deep condolences for your worst day ever, Shawn. I hope you will forget it soon.
Everything's gonna be okay, buddy :)

For the SQL problem, its not a problem at all I think. It must be very rough to manage a forum as big as DP. Thanks for providing this to us.

Thank you for the kind words ;) . This kind of trouble should unite people so they work together to restore what's lost. They say, there is no evil without good - let's hope DP will become even better after it.

dang.. sounds to me that some of these admins are lacking systems admin experience... I upgraded my servers to RAID 10 back in 2005. But that was back in the days... Nowadays, we use vsphere-hypervisor which is more reliable than anything else in the world. A computer is no longer a computer, it is considered a resource machine where VM operating systems can borrow specific hardware resources...

    SOURCE:
Get started with free virtualization. VMware vSphere Hypervisor is a production-ready hypervisor that lets you virtualize your servers, helping you save time and money on managing your IT infrastructure. Built on the world’s smallest and most robust architecture, VMware vSphere ESXi, the vSphere Hypervisor, sets the industry standard for reliability, performance and ecosystem support. Consolidate your applications onto fewer servers and start saving money through reduced hardware, power, cooling and administration costs.
Run multiple applications on a single server
Back up and recover applications more easily
    Virtualize even business-critical applications

"The Most Important thing I had learned in life is take regular backups of your HDD and websites" ;) many times I had faced this problem and I had no backup at all :(

All I lost was my signature (I changed it about a week ago and it's now back to the old one).
Other than that, I was really lucky. I wish you all the best Shawn. This must have hurt a lot!
As a systems administrator myself I know just how frustrating system failure really is.
And to have the server not backing up when you thought it was...ouch. :( That's just a killer!
DigitalPoint will recover itself, of that I'm sure. It's the largest webmaster forum in the world! :D

I totally understand and sympathize with how you feel. The problem is that so many members lost stuff that they simply cannot give back what was lost. If they were to do it for you, then they would have to do it for hundreds of others (maybe even thousands)...simply put, it's not going to happen....sorry.

Well this is something which should be given. Just imagine the cost of privilege membership?
I am not saying that I cant earn another like but who knows when it will happen. I have been a member for a long time. Had supported many, helped many. Then came this like system, i felt bad but i thought this is for good. I earned it. But now when I was about to start a project this happens.
Really disappointing, is this how a long time member is rewarded?
I understand about the server failures. Something can be recovered without any issue. But things like membership privileges should be given.
I request the concerned authority to open a helpdesk to resolve these issues.
