I WANT TO RANK HIGH FOR SOME KEYWORDS ON GOOGLE AND MOST OF THE TOP POSITIONS HAVE YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON THEM. FIRST SOMEONE ON YAHOO ANSWERS TOLD ME THAT OUTRANKING YOUTUBE VIDEOS CAN BE FAIRLY EASY THEN SOMEONE ON WARRIOR FORUM TOLD ME THAT "Google likes to put as much of their own properties in the search results as possible, because most of them come with advertising " CAN SOME ONE PLEASE TELL ME IS IT EASY OR HARD TO OUTRANK A YOUTUBE VIDEO??
Shout that again! (Are your caps lock on?). It depends on your keyword phrases. It can be hard to rank above YouTube vids but for the same token it can be done to. Not very helpful I realise but it really does depend a lot on what we are talking about which is nothing in particular here as we are talking blind thus far.
Not easy! Though clearly just by going by the number 1 result the way to beat the videos best is with "cartoons". But then I would say that as Cartoon SEO is my thing so might be a bit biased. I don't think you could sustain the engagement needed to maintain the high ranking without some such a gimick to work, with some real good on site SEO to get it there so it could have a chance to stay up there. It's things like novelty value for such terms that give them the edge for things like this. The more funny/engaging/unique the better. The cartoons you see in rank one above the vids I bet we're not cheap though I would have thought as they look like quality and some good thought & investment went into things. So much so they have link 3 to for my search's. That's to do it with some real style of course...
So to make a long story short, even though these youtube videos dont have any backlinks it would still be etremely hard to surpass them in the rankings?
Well look at the competiton. LovePanky I have heard of so they are well known. The other site is a mens site dedicated to thta sort of thing. WikiHow use cartoons across multiple pages with related things going on internally. Then there is one almost EMD and then the vids So you are going to have to do something to stand out above and beyond the comptition to have a look in on page 1. My approach would be to use cartoons. You could also commmission some nice photos or acquire some cheaper that fit the bill. You really do need to find a way to stand out from the crowd though to pull it off best and IMHO as Wikihow seem to be seen by Google as pulling it off best using cartoons that would be my choice to. You could try and do it with just good on site text but it would be no easy task and all the top ranked sites all have other things going on which are factors to contend with to.
LOL and i dont need to rank in number one position. top 10 is fine with me, i do have awsome SEO on my website though, im sure with some work i can do it.
You say that now, wait until you get in the top ten you will soon be hankering after number 1 as the amount of clicks they are getting above you becomes more apparent and appealing. It can be frustrating being in the botton half of a page 1 result, even more frustarting to be down lower on page two below the top 2 links.

Well #1 is good don't you think? Take a look at this Google result and you will see me ranking #1 just above your #1 enemy on that search phrase Wikihow. So if you ever do decide you need to commission cartoons to really control the situation , as there is no better place than #1 IMHO You can find some good artists here on DP btw, in the contests section I have seen some pretty good art work coming from designers in there. It's all good ways to stand out to give you the edge.
Wow! so wha wow! so you ranked about Wikihow (those bastards ) by using cartoon advertising?? what excactly is that? im confused by this whole cartoon thing you keep mentioning..how do i use it to gain a edge? PLEASE TELL ME!
If you are posting on a site that has some authority and you are building "clean" backlinks I've found it is not that difficult. While I am not a fan of the Empower Network. Sites like it, have the potential to rank higher because they have tons of content on them already. Not only that, but if you are crosslinking your content properly you will also be able to rank higher. Then last but not least, remember the age old adage "if you can't beat em' join em'!" If you're having trouble bypassing the YouTube videos create some YouTube videos of your own. Or maybe even a Facebook Fan Page/Group (I've noticed those ranking very high lately). This way you have high authority sites that can compete with the very ones you're trying to pass. Also, whenever possible, put a link to the site that you're trying to rank on all of your authority pages like YouTube and your Facebook Fan Pages/Groups. Hope this helps.
