Contest $50 logo design

Discussion in 'Design Contests' started by goodbook, Apr 18, 2013.

    Greetings,
this is a $50 logo design contest for a consulting company - Orb Consulting.
Winner will be chosen no later than 4 days from now (Monday EST), reserving the right to work with the winner on the design afterwards if it may need some fine tuning.
    Fast paypal payment.
Need to see the design on both a black and white/transparent background, and will be paying for both files.
Use of lighting and shading needed to create an orb (sphere/circle) out of glowing stardust to have the appearance of glowing in space.
A starburst lensflare may look good in the design as a backlight for the orb.
For the black background design, the glowing stardust should be in different shades of gold, ranging from gold to pale yellow.
Yellow may not work on the white background so I am open to different colors.
"Orb" either inside or outside of sphere.
"Consulting" outside of sphere in small gray text.
    I will provide feedback.

@logoesdesign - totally on the right track. One suggestion I have is would be to have the word Orb in wrap around text, like a spherized text, to give it dimension.

Here is an example if need be.

Duly noted. In an effort to be more clear, instead of saying what needs to be in the design, I will list ideas that I had when thinking of an Orb Consulting logo. These are open to interpretation.
    -Orb/sphere/circle
    -glow
    -Stardust
    -starburst lensflare

Also, I have since realized that yellow/gold color will be fine on both black and white background so it is not important to come up with any other colors.

I really like the light and shading that is used in these designs and I'm not opposed to a stock photo look. That being said, I am partial to original designs from scratch.
Having seen the word "Orb" both inside and outside of the sphere now, I like it best on the inside.

Suggestions I would give would be to put "Orb" inside the circle and to add a little more yellow/gold and let the color pop a little more. My second favorite so far after logoesdesign's first entry.

Thank you for having both white and black background. I don't mind a clip art aesthetic, I'm just more drawn to a design that has few or no clip art elements.

Orb inside sphere is good. One suggestion I would have is to show it on a black background as well.

I hope you're open to opinion, because I have one. The word Orb is already an orb and the image orb will be an orb also. It's like an image of a car and there's a text that says car, that we already know of.

    Some questionnaires for your brand;
    What does Orb Consulting do?
What kind of message should the logo carry?

I mean no offence, I'm just trying to get the best idea of what's the best, rather than shoot in the dark. Please accept my sincere apologies.
