    Hi,

I have a site and due to some reasons i don't want to use that, it also have some traffic, and ranked good for its major keywords. i want to start a new site on same topic and want to redirect all traffic and backlinks from previous site to new one.

I also want to import all content from previous site to new site.

Is this good and i can move now? or this will effect my ranking from previous domain to new domain?

    Regards

You'd have to 301 the whole site to the new domain which is perfectly fine, but not all "authority" will transfer with the 301, so you'll lose some of that and it will take some time for the new domain to begin ranking. Hope that helps.

If you're transferring all of the content to the new site, 301ing it should take care of all of that.

this might sound dump, but i was wondering where do we set the 301 redirect from our cpanel redirect section,or we need to have a plugin that will do the redirect on our blog,

in my own case it's a wordpress blog that is created on a sub domain and would want to redirect the traffic from the sub domain to the main site

You will surely get some effect in your SERP ranking after a 301 redirect. So, continue with your current SEO techniques for your new domain..

You'll have to do an htaccess rewrite. You need to find one that will 301 all pages to your matching pages on the other site. Doing just a simple 301 from domaina to domainb won't work. Check this link out.

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11943961/htaccess-rewrite-all-pages-to-same-page-on-another-domain

Always remember to test. You can use this to see what the server is returning for the page
