Discussion in 'Google' started by dcristo, Aug 29, 2005.

    Hi guys,

I've just processed a remove url request with google. For those who have previously done this request, how long does it typically take to have the pages/directories you requested deindexed?

    Cheers

I think this depends on how often Googlebot visits your site. Mine is takes a week.;)

Sorry, when I said I have processed the Google Remove URL request, I meant by doing so here www.google.com/remove.html which should hopefully speed things up a little.

Wow, impressive. I just checked back after a couple of hours and they have already deindexed the pages! My coop was down with these additional pages indexed so it would have been a nightmare waiting 5 days to process the request. Cheers Google!

Do I need to block all robots before I remove the url?

I just clicked on remove and it said: denied.

I also take remove URLs in Google webmaster tools, after about one day, the URLs are deleted.

It's not guaranteed that your URL will get removed. If you don't the URL to be in Google, you probably don't want it to be public anyway.

Google processes these requests ASAP as this tool is to be used to remove things like sensitive information.
This tool is not to be used to simply deindex any pages you want to be reindexed and should only be used in extreme cases.
With regards to a time line, its not down to the crawl rate of your site, its due to how quickly Google can process the request through their own servers. They do aim to process the requests as soon as they can though, so usually within a few hours.
If you want to reindex those pages though expect it to take weeks...

Google removal tool that can help you to remove useless links, is a pretty good tool, but before deleting, check up your website!

This thread has nothing to do with "links" I was talking about the Google URL Removal Tool to remove pages from the index. You're referring to the Disavow Tool.

Only if you want to be sure that those pages will never be indexed again. If you don't block them, Google will remove them but can index them again if it finds links to it.

To do so, the domain must be registered under his Webmaster's account. If this is the case, why did you allow it?
That aside, add the domain back under your account. After verification, you should be able to submit the url back for indexing again.

I think fatmanonline just needs to log in to WMT, go to URL removal tool and check all removal requests - then it's enough to cancel it and the domain will be indexed in a few hours.

I was replying to Smeagol that posted yesterday.

Besides, it's not the topic that can be out of date.
