    Hi,

I need some opinions from those of you who started a new forum (I intend to create a forum related to outdoor activities).
How do you get the people to signup to your newly created forum?

Thank you advance for your suggestions!

I'm fairly sure that a lot of people will pay people to start their forum off by creating lots of topics and having discussions. Actually, I believe you can find someone to do that on this website. Also sending the forum around to people you know and asking them to start a topic off or something isn't unheard of. I'm currently struggling to find the best way to start my forum off also. I'm planning to do both.

Use Facebook, FB is 1 of the best marketing tools available out there. Create a group if you have to. Twitter, tumblr, etc.....

You can invite users at this forum, google the groups and forums related to your topic. Be active there and make friends to invite them to your forum later.

You need good content to encourage them to become a member and contribute. No one wants to participate in a dead forum.

The very first step would be to generate traffic to your website in general. Have quality content and the people would keep coming back. If you have a newsletter when you have a base of about 50 subscribers tell them about the forum and attach a bonus for signing up and a bonus for having the most posts for say 30 mins .
