Blog Traffic Question

Guys, I asked this question at another forum and it was probably the wrong one. Anyways, I have a question here. When you guys write a post entry, what do you do? Sit and wait for people to come? How do you increase and make traffic to your blog? I know about link exchange and stuff, but other than that, do you just wait for the SE to pick up your blog and wait for traffic as you keep adding content? Or do you submit to Social Bookmark sites ( digg, web 2.0. yahoo, reddit, etc) if you do, how often and which ones do you use? Many people say content is king when it comes to blogs and stuff, but how do you promote them to get the traffic...You might have some excellent posts, but if no one is reading them, whats the point? Pleas share your advice and experience and hope we all can learn from this..

social bookmark will bring traffic "ONLY" if you have something new and unique and can bring user value.

95% of my traffic is from Google...it is too time consuming to submit every single post. And if you keep submitting story of your own site, your account might get banned

 

So do you just write and wait for traffic?

Submitting your entries to social networking site once in a while is ok.
You will not be happy if you were like me, got penalized for spamming.

What I always do is write article that is worth submitting to Social Bookmarking sites. You can also write series articles. Part one in your blog, and submit part two to article directories.

Isnare.com has a good article distribution service. This way, your blog can accumulate traffic very fast.

To retain traffic, write an ebook about some secrets you know. Offer it free to your blog readers, at the same time capturing their email and first name. Use Aweber or GetResponse to manage the autoresponder. Alert them once in a while to get them back to your blog.

This will be a good way to drive and retain traffic. Build upon it slowly.
