Don't know if any of you have tried this with retail clients however we are about to update one of our clients sites Page Titles with Prices ££'s. Wondered if any of you good people have ever done this yourselves and what was the result or if you had any advice for this little experiment? This experiment we are completing is for a DVD retailer and are going to try to keep it to those DVD's that we are highly price competitive on. Anyway post any good advice and let me know if any of you would be interested in the results we get and i'll come back and let you know the impact on Click Through Rates/Conversions etc Cheers David
Well, if you add the price in the title, you will probably get a more targeted visitor that looking to BUY, because they already know the price, before having to read through a bunch of nonsense... With no price in the title, they might click-thru to the page, scroll to the price and just leave before reading any of the nonsense on the page... Holla!~
I'm not sure if you mean when advertising or for SEO purposes. Putting the price in an ad has always lowered my CTR but increased my conversions.
I'm definitely interested in your results of the experiment. My question is are the prices subject to change often and if so how do you plan on keeping them adjusted accordingly?
I think it is good, your title would look different, unique, stand out from others..you can also use phone number as well..
I I don't think prices that are subject to change would do well in a page title, unless the page title was scripted to automatically update. In advertising (I use PPC only atm) I just run short-term campaigns & start new ones, but usually the prices of most products don't change, except for occasional sales.
@Sharpay Cool, i guess I was assuming you were using some sort of plugin like AOM or some other amazon plugin. I think you will do very well in fact, as long as you can tailor your ads properly I can see this doing quite well. Just make sure to test, optimize then test again then optimize some more and then test again
The prices change on occasion but we will update immediately, there will of course be a bit of time before these are updated in the SERPS however it's a well crawled site so shouldn't be too long I'll keep this updated with results!
Ok folks first week of results in after the new Page Titles came up on the SERPS. Quite startling results. There has been minimal movement in position, a few up and a few down. Exactly what i wanted really Click through rate on products has actually improved by 20% Conversions have increased 50% on products included in the trial. We estimate that 40% of this was due to the change with 10% increase due to normal seasonal variations Do bear in mind the field this client is in (DVDs - same product in every store and price is major decision area for customers) is extremely price sensitive so this may not be the case across the board. We are rolling this out to more products for the client and may look at introducing to another client. Will continue updates if anyone is interested in seeing them?
