Google ads is a pay per click program. Google will provide you a code to place relevant ads on your site (can be text, banners or both) on your site. Each time the ad is clicked, you get paid. Monetizing G Ads and actually making profit from it takes a lot of traffic. I usually suggest affiliate marketing instead. Greater earnings with less traffic. Cheers!
As you put Google Adsense on your blog then it is good thing, it would give you good earning if your blog is getting hundreds of visitors from Google search engine. For getting visitors, of course, you have to add more content, build links, optimize some keywords, it would help of course.
