    Well Google diversify the SEO techniques, try to have quality, relevant, low OBL and high PR links, randomly change of anchor text and keywords, good on page optimization of site, unique and to the point content, normal density of keywords, perfect internal linking of site pages, landing pages and product pages have attractive product listing, good site speed and many more things will give you good results. Social media give site the direct traffic and have a grip on major percentage of online traffic.
    Don't do one type of link building all the time but diversify and randomly change the techniques, like if you do forums posting and blog commenting one day then good option is that you do social book marking and directories another day and so on change the time table randomly. But Google minimized the value of some techniques little bit.

    Yes, the links leading back to your site must be high authority non spammy sites.. The link building process must be gradual... If you get 300 back links in the space of say 24 hours, then this could lead Google to possibly banning your site.. The link building must appear gradual and natural...

    What I would say anchor text is you have to use anchor text related to your main keyword, it should be near the main keyword so that it would look natural..

    I saw trend people using these anchor texts:
    click here
    read more
    view page
    my website
    I like this

    and so on..

    Well, you can use these anchor texts as well, but not too much, 5% is good.

    Basically Google makes the algorithm to better search for their users. There are so many algorithm have been updated by Google, Google panda is one of them. Google panda updates on these sites there are no quality contents, no information for user and these blog/site contents were coming up at top in SERP, like all these sites have been penalized by Google after panda update.
    If you want to safe your site to Google panda update, you should focus on your quality contents as well as contents should be informative for user.
