Kindly note that this list has been compiled using my own research. Please add a pet to the list if you think I have left out a "popular" Indian pet.

I think rabbits deserve a place in top 10 atleast before owls. Correct me if i am wrong. Any way, good that you have done some research on this

 

Well, yes, rabbits do deserve a mention as well. But it just missed the top 10 for India. Makes the list for China, USA and Europe though.

Elephants are wonderful mammals, but as a pet? A bit hard to take it for a walk, I think, or play fetch. There's a difference between keeping an animal as a pet and keeping one for labour purposes (which I assume is why people have them).

I'm curious - how many of those are actually kept as pets rather than for labour, livestock or a similar purpose?

I wish if i could adopt a puppy size elephant and take it for walk daily Maybe my name would be included in Guinness world's records for having the most smallest elephant on the earth, haha. I personally adore Indian neck parrots and I already have one which is so sweet and green! It tries to imitate every word I say and guess what it can pronounce the parts of body quite well...

 

i see somebody like elephant and i see some Indian movies some people have a elephant in that home and if not have any person elephant in real life then my mind to say Indian movies are stupid.....

My friend and I watched a Bollywood movie last week. It had English subtitles and it was very good, especially the part with the Bollywood dancing.
By the way do you know where I can buy a pet elephant cheap? I think I want one. ( hope it will get along well with my cat)

OK dear if i am wrong then i don't want to be right i just say i see Indian movies some movies have a elephant you can see Tarzan old Indian movie. if this movie not related to culture then i hate Indian movies.

any ways you forget Horse, Rabbit and Donkeys(They used by ceramist and to load burden) & I have only doubt about Owl.. Who had owl as a pet???

 

Most of Muslim families have Goat as a pet .. wht's wrong in that??
