I Should say, SEO is dying as we know it - With most decent/well known blog networks being banned, and this looming Panda update going after spun content and irrelevant links (which makes sense), it seems many people are losing rankings - and losing revenue.

After so many updates like Panda, Penguin of Google, SEO becomes dynamic too. Because older methods are becoming invalidated or down rank and new methods (example Guest blog posting) gets more weight-age. Seo never dies until search engines exist in world but nowadays people are getting more awareness about online presence and using more internet for their regular work due to this reason, number of websites are growing and competition is increasing. Hence, search engine like Google needs to change and make update their search algorithm. SEO becomes more popular in next future due to dynamic nature and increasing demand of seo experts.

It's just a constant evolution, the only thing that's dieing are the people who don't adapt.

SEO doesn't show any signs of dying. It's pretty fair to say that spam SEO is dying though. It's not about spamming blog comments to create backlinks like it used to be, everything is a lot more quality based now (though as always there are ways to trick Google, money being the primary factor.)

As you can see from most replies it is not dying, but you can also see there is a great misconception that it is dying from misinformation.

The forums like DP, WF, etc. running so strongly are definitely saying that SEO won't die forever. Until there is Internet in the world, SEO lives strong!!

I wouldn't base SEO on the success of message boards. It could be just more people wanting to learn how to make money online.
