Hi all. I understand that many will think that I'm another smart guy who needs the most. Yet I'll dare to raise the subject.
So I'm interested to get guaranteed listing of my website in DMOZ. I understand that officially it's not possible but is there any other way? The site was submitted to DMOZ more than 2 years ago and unsuccessful.
I'm looking for ways how to do it. I only care about the result.

No one can give you such guarantees. Guarantees are misplaced when it comes to adding to DMOZ. Even if your website is already placed in DMOZ - there are no guarantees that tomorrow it won't be removed by editors after rechecking. You need to understand that it's not business directory where you paid and got listing. In your case I would reccomend to pay more attention to website. Check DMOZ conditions once more and make sure that your website meets all requirements. Next you have to submit your website to DMOZ once more or use DMOZ submission services. But... run from services offering any guarantees!

I don't know why people are still hung up on the DMOZ directory. Back in the day when Google used that directory as it's own it was worth while having a listing but since... it's just another directory.

I have well over 50 sites sites at the moment and I have 1 listed in DMOZ and yet the ones I put some time and effort in still rank fine without having 1 random link from dmoz .. basically treat it as another directory, submit and forget, if you get accepted great, if not, who cares just carry on making your site(s) better with links and content etc

dmoz is just another directory, don't get hung up on it, you really can rank a site without being listed in it :)

So why does it have its own forum here, if like you and all the editors have said, it's just another directory,
this is what confuses me, the editors don't provide any value here except to tell people what they could learn on the website, so shouldn't this forum be shut down or 4700 other ones created for every other directory?

The sub forum here has been here since I've been here... 8 years (so maybe it's been here longer) when it was worth having a sub forum for it and it's just lasted through time.

It's no doubt still here as so many people are still so hung up on the pointless directory that the number of posts would just clog up other sections (random guess though only Shawn would be able to answer it).

Anyone who knows anything about SEO would all tell you the same as what I said.. it's just another directory (obviously better than a lot of others out there) but still a directory none the less. All directories offer a cheap free back link and that's about it.. some than others, SEO wise the value of dmoz links on there own are small, used correctly with other links and it helps.

It is not a easy task to be listed at the DMOZ directory......it is one of the oldest (best too) directory.....
My suggestion would be that first make ur site worth full for DMOZ and then apply......It may works :)

guaranteed DMOZ listing. Can't be, DMOZ is like communist country, no one cares about listing or you can get listing if you have ... connections.

the easy way was. Find the Owner of Dmoz , then convince him to listed your website on DMOZ.

who can guarantee it just the owner.

Yup.....first go to the official DMOZ site.....then choose the best possible category for ur site (this one is very important part)... Then fill in the details.....Try to be as accurate as possible.....then submit it.....and after that the better is to forget about it........otherwise u may loose ur patience....as DMOZ won't accept it soon...... Hope that helps.....

The best thing you can do lebinh23 is read the sticky at the top of the forum, it answers all your questions and you will know the exact position regarding suggesting your site, the time frame and the importance of suggesting a site once and once only.

Just check on freelance sites. There are many DMOZ editors that are selling listings between $20-$100 dollars. There is much blah, blah about listing be removed or checked but is very much BS because there are very few editors who can edit in different categories and most of them busy selling listings and have no desire to come in conflict with other crooks in the directory.
