Since everyone has to go past this route (almost), what's the best tip you could give to them ? my Advice and a little bit of assurance would be -
I'll give two pieces of advice... 1. Never stop marketing your services. 2. Clear communication with your clients is essential.
Don't stop believin! Hahha I had too. But seriously, my tip is to stick with it and not give up. Times will get hard sometimes, but the ones who push through are the ones who succeed. Believe in yourself and keep going no matter what.
1. Always try to share your knowledge. 2. Market yourself and don't forget the local market also. 3. Making your profile strong with enough Portfolios and Overview 4. Treat customer fast. Make sure you understand what they want. 5. Do not be cheap, be fair. Do not hesitate to ask questions in order to have a clear idea with detailed specifications of what the client wants, else you will waste your time and complete a useless work. When you focus on quality of your work, money will come to you.
Stay away from middle man sites that charge you a fee for landing gigs. You don't need them. Create a website and market yourself.
Best advice is to brand yourself properly. Create a website that showcases your work, and also had social media elements to your promotion. That way you can connect with potential clients, and stay in touch on a personal basis. Lastly, join a bunch of forums related in your niche, and build a relationship with the online community. People will naturally flock to you if you can genuinely help them out! Good Luck, Marc
Learn how to manage your time, especially if you work from home. It can be difficult to stick to a schedule and stay organized if your work and home life become too mixed together. Effective communication will ensure that you land jobs once people contact you. Stay on top of job boards, CL, and don't become inactive on social media networks.
Never forget to focus on the old clients. You have to think how can you offer something new to them, because if you done a good job they are pontential clients to buy you again, so never forget them.
Whatever things in your mind just take appropriate action you will get something new keep doing until u don't get..other recommendations just listens, what's your socialization with any niche, just utilize your knowledge..with other people. Thanks!!!
Try to be the best in what you offer. There are many freelancers who are offering many things but they do not offer quality in any of those services. If people start to recognize your quality you done 90% of the job.
Over deliver. Promote heavily - I almost said over-promote. But you can't over-promote; or rather, I faill to see how anyone can.
Say "NO" when you have to. I've seen many freelancers who does really good work getting into a mess because they take on all the projects that come their way. At the end they either do not deliver or deliver a bad product and end up making all their customers angry.
Don't offer crappy services. Put yourself in the buyers shoes. Would you pay for whatever it is that you are offering? Would you put that article on your own site? You can be the best marketer but if your services are crap, you're not going to get repeat clients and you will likely gain a bad reputation as a freelance provider. So, make sure that you have the skills necessary to do your job right. If not, take some time to improve your skills. It will be worth the extra time you spend on improving your services in the end.
My number one tip is to completley fill out your profile if you do decide that you are going to go with a third party site. Starting there is where most freelancers start and is nothing to be ashamed of! Make sure that you completley fill out your skill set and apply, apply, apply. I made over $5000 as a freelancer of the last couple years with third party sites so I know it works!
aside from the advices given above, don't forget to build your online presence and reputation. most companies who would like to outsource services always look at your social media profile to give them ideas about you. invest on that.
If you're already good at what you do, you need to start marketing your articles with a vengeance! Push your work on craigslist, forums, G+, blogosphere and anywhere else you can.
