Can I Trust Sedo?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by NoDepositer, Feb 19, 2013.

When i started some years ago buying and selling domains i registered to SEDO, i added to domains and got no bids didn't login for a long while until one day i receive this:

I was young and had no money and got scared so i never logged in again, got two reminders and never paid. I didn't remember doing anything cost €1000.

But now, today i feel i have to come over this and start using SEDO again for real.

Can i trust SEDO, do they send out bills like these often?
    Thanks!

It looks like you may have unknowingly purchased something - Certification(?)

If you didn't do it, then just contact them and let them know. It is also possible someone may have hacked your account and made the purchase.

And don't forget that it says ''refundable'', so just contact them and they'll tell you what's going on. There's only one way to find out.. and we here at DP can't help you with that ;)

If you have not purchased anything, you have to contact them.

Another possibility is, you may have received phishing email in your inbox.

i am sure this is a phishing email as i got an email from sedo because i forgot to pay for a domain name i know it was from sedo because the sale went smooth and i got my domain name but the bank details they give me are not the same as they are in yours

Wire Transfer:Credit Account Name: Sedo GmbH
    Credit Account #: 0099308601
    SWIFT-Code: DRESDEFFXXX (Commerzbank AG, Germany)
    IBAN: DE18 5008 0000 0099 3086 01
Additional Instructions: 2544389 (You must give this ID!)

also in my email i had the option to pay with paypal which there is not an option to in yours. so i would just contact them hope this helped you out.

Sedo is good platform for buying and selling premium domains, I have also sedo account and most of my domains are with Sedo.. but if you want to sell your domain, you have to promote it.

How do you promote it, I ordered a homepage feature and got 17 views on my offer page in one day I thought that wasn't good but maybe it is I have 30 more days to go we'll see.

I do like the domain portfolio page they give you.

Another possible may be check the mail clearly, whether its a genuine mail from SEDO. Even accidently someone will never purchase anything because you need to click minimum 2-3 times with process.

Check out with Sedo, it might be a phishing attempt. If it is not, let them explain you what the bill is supposed to be for. It might well be that they have charged the incorrect person, shit happens also in IT... I have been five years with Sedo, sold and bought domains, and had never a problem...

I would contact Sedo to ask them. The only reason you'd get an invoice is if you had purchased a domain listed with them.

I've used SEDO for a few years selling odd domains I no longer have use for. They take a small percentage of your sale. I have found them to be reliable and their support very helpful. I would contact them to query the invoice. It could be a fake.

Pay only after confirming it by Sedo support they would explain you more about the same. Any invoice sent should also have the link to SEDO with invoice and more details on the same so you must look for that too. Seems to be a phising e-Mail

Sedo is generally good. However, once you pay for the homepage showcase, it is non-refundable even though you invest a lot of money. (It is the best way to sell domains there) So, please select the best domains because you have to pay first. Set the price lower and wait for someone to bid in order to push it to auction.

Might be possible , you have mention any domain for sell and some one wanted to buy that's the reason SEDO first asking their 15% of total amount which is 1000euro ?
