A Website Is Stealing My Contents!

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by R&B, Feb 13, 2013.

I have a website and write my original articles.
A way bigger website is copying my contents and paste them onto their website.
They give me a backlink directly to my main page.
I am happy with the backlinks and I didn't mind them doing it for a while but my concern is
WILL THAT EFFECT MY GOOGLE KEYWORD SEARCH?
(you know cuz of that original content, and now it's duplicated)
WILL GOOGLE BE ABLE TO TELL WHO THE ORIGINAL OWNER IS AND RANK ME HIGHER?(for that specific article)
One thing, They are smart enough to make it like a "post your article" sort of website and they did send me a username and a password so i can edit the articles.
I've already ask them to stop but they keep doing what they did, they basically do all the work; downloading my videos from youtube and reposting it on their website, copying the articles from my website and pasting it on their website, and they are pretty quick too.
I've deleted few of the posts and kept few just to get that backlink but they are unstoppable and as soon as i post a new article Boooom it's right their on their site. I haven't tried to delete my account thou (cuz of the backlink)

Cool, thanks for the quick response. I was happy with the backlinks and if it's helping me with the ranking then it's a no brainer.

Well if it is a bot scraping your website, then why not leave links to your website, etc. That way it will appear on their website too.

    This may harm your website,
actually if the website stealing your content is getting the articles you have posted getting indexed in google cache before your website do will make your content look duplicate in the eyes of google and will not lead to a good rankings in google search engine and even those backlinks you re getting are from a single domain so even they are not providing you a very good profit as well when compared to your loss.

I am totally agree with you...
So, it is essential to submit your web body content to google.com/submityourcontent to prevent problem like this.

I think, you have to do wait for sometime because google always kicked those websites who use copied or stolen content.

if your content is posted earlier than any copied content will help you rank better if the content contains any hyperlinks to your website. check this first, if not, send an email to the webmaster of the site who copies your content and ask them to include your site link as reference.

As you said you already have the login details, simply link back to your website.

Duplicate content will hurt you sooner or later. if that bigger site always copies your stuff, chances are that they copy others and Google might not like it one day so all your backlinks will actually hurt you than do any good. Ideally you should avoid being copied. You can use tools like www.plagspotter.com or copysacpe.com to check and monitor your site for plagiarism or scrapping.

You don't have to worry if you have submitted your content first as compared to those site. Google will find those sites and will ban them if they are copying your site..
