If search engine provides the best results to its users then SEO is not dying in fact I think never will.
The thing is SEO standards or you can say the rules that are getting harder gradually just because of spammers and illegal users those try to manipulate SERP.

Exactly. As long as their are search engines out there how is it possible for it to be dead? I bet you still use Google everyday. If you need to find something online you go to their site and put in your search. Bam - you just used SEO.

Just people people can't spam out 1000 links in a day and get a first page ranking that doesn't mean SEO is dead...it simply means link spamming is dead. SEO just requires more work and it requires you to provide something beneficial for your visitors.

I doubt SEO will ever die. You can find other ways to get traffic, but being at the top of the SERPs is still the best.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

SEO will exist as long as any search engine would exist. Remember there are many other search engines too like Bing, Ask and Yahoo just to mention but a few.

It is really just a transition and SEO has become more about promoting quality content. Quality content gets more good links and also encourages Google to give it juice for quality. So the SEO specialist who know how to frame and present good content will produce great results and the specialist who continue to use old method will be what dies.

SEO is not dying at all. It has just finally become about quality websites and doing things the right way. Now, people that work hard and actually produce content that the end-user will enjoy are rewarded. So, all those people that take shortcuts will say that SEO is dying, or they will be angry with Google.

But, those of us that go about things the right way regarding SEO are extremely happy with the changes Google has made. It means we are going to get noticed even more for our efforts. Simply put, SEO just doesn't leave any room for laziness anymore.

I believe it is more about onsite SEO then offsite. Links do not seem to be as important as content.

SEO is not dead, and instead most likely starting up as an industry. Although it is not an industry that many probably know about (such as I when I first started), it is not an industry that is even close to dying. As long as there are websites and businesses starting up, SEOs will be needed to start them up. SEO webmasters will always and forever be the experts in site creation, maintenance and optimization.

SEO is just changing. So example, Facebook is now trying to play a cool search engine. Marketers could soon start optimizing for Facebook, who knows?

Also, SEO is changing in a way that more social signals get incorporated into the search engines' algorithms. So, if one wants to succeed at SEO, he needs to do more social media marketing.
