I moved from an old apartment to a new home for adults. It was polymer clay, where you have the colored clay that you make the cool item, then bake it in a special toaster oven set aside for this. I miss that hobby. I asked Monika if I could do this here, explaining that a toaster oven was needed, for thoroughness in explanation. She said no. I can see why. Fires and so forth. I also know this as well, as I thought of such a scenario, and there is a nursing home downstairs for other people. I understand everything, logistics in case of fires and so forth. I just am trying to think of another creative craft I could do outside of things needing heat. I think one is little glue-together models. Something like that.
Thank you! I was thinking of that Japanese paper clay. I would have to do more research to see if I could make it and not have to bake that. Great idea. I will look into air drying clays. The only thing about polymer clay was that you could make canes, you know when you slice it, looks like opaque stained glass cathedral windows in miniature, you know. that was the thing with polymer clay.
You're welcome! I just found these instructions for projects using paper clay. Also, I like working with porcelain clay. I make my own version at home that I believe to be better than what's available commercially.
OMG! My privileges UNLOCKED just a minute ago. I tried going into BST just now, and saw instead of watch forum, the actual Post in forum button, yes that LIVE BUTTON and I see the like privilege smallword in the corner of posts too!! I am CHUFFED!
Good luck with it! You can also experiment with clay color by kneading in a smidgeon of gel food colorings.
