Clone Site Is Good Or Bad In Seo Perspective?

There are many PHP clone Scripts like oDesk Clone, ELance Clone, Freelancer Clone which can produce many similar clone site. [ For example oDesk Clone Script can able to produce many odesk like online employment marketplace site for client.]


I have 3 question regarding website cloning ::

1. Is it a good idea to create a clone site of a popular domain by using those php clone script?

2. What is the best SEO methods for clone websites?
3. Is Google treating those clone website as spam site?

Clone in what sense? Layout, functionality, purpose and content? Then yes, you won't rank well for duplicate content. A waste of money and time. You need to show that a site has value and not a rip off, if you want to rank well in Google.

 

Clone sites have their uses but SEO is not one of them. If you setup a clone site you need to ensure that search engines don't have access to it otherwise it will lead to bad results for your sites.

Clone sites can be handy though when you are tracking multiple different marketing strategies, so you can use a different domain name when advertising so you know anybody who used clone site 1 came from X marketing source and clone site 2 came from Z marketing source.

Or to be an exact copy of your site but with a different phone number, so when somebody clicks on say a Google adwords advert it takes them to clone site 1 which has a different phone number displayed compared to the main normal website, so any phone calls made to the clone site number came from Google Adwords.

This method can be used for various marketing campaigns and makes it easy to track how many enquiries you have received via each method.

 

If you are cloning only layout then its ok but if you are cloning the whole site with content then it will harm you in seo. In fact it will effect on your previous seo work, the hard work that you have been done will be waste.

 

Its neither good nor bad - your search competition doesnt depend on what is written behind the page it most like based on front content added in your website if you see some sites with same clone the useful content site will rank higher 100% I am sure on this...

Well, looks like its as simple as creating a new context and pointing symlinks to original context's pages. Templates can still be changed page by page which fulfills your requirements.

If just the layout and theme is the same, then you'll be fine - But if the written content is the same, then you'll get penalised by Google.
