Penguin, Panda, Collateral - Is Google Getting Poor?

What do you think the real motivations are behind all of the Google going ons? Is Google really feeling sorry for all of the people who have websites that are getting left out?

Or is it about all of the extra ad money they are able to bring in now by leveling the playing field?

Before you jump down my throat in their defense stop and think. Who really benefits from all these changes?

Is not this a conflict of interest because they are making money from this themselves by way of Adwords and Adsense because you and I are now having to buy more advertising from somewhere.

In the old days they called this anti-trust. Welcome to the new world and no law.

I'd say it's got a lot to do with the advertising. I think ultimately it will allow the people who are genuinely offering good products and content to surpass the 'crap' out there.

I sincerely think they are about the better experience for the end user.
Remember, they are losing users to social media sites, so their best bet is to have very acurate results when somebody is looking for something.
Targeted audiences will click on ads and banners, and make more money for the advertisers and google.

Some of their updates solved a big problem: the ultra-mega-extra low-quality websites which were on the first places because of many spammy links.

Also, forcing people with EMDs to increase the quality of their project was a smart thing to do as well.

It does seem that Google prefers AdWords and AdSense sometimes.

Conspiracy theories would make more sense if there was NO sites on the first page of results. But the reality is that for every site that loses a ranking, one also gains a ranking.

This site has gotten more search engine traffic since they started rolling out the big updates the last couple years, and we do zero AdWords advertising. We also don't do things like buy links, spin content or anything else that could be considered spammy.

I dont think its because they want users to go for google adwords

I think they are trying to push the service owners who have good products and services than the one who are creating chain of websites and making them on google first page by manipulating the results.

Uh... Of course Google would want to show good products/services over bad ones. When was the last time you were searching Google hoping the bad products would come up first?

My guess is that Google is losing a lot of traffic to social networking websites, forums, and other giant websites like Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and Bing. It is only a matter of time before they will have to swallow their own "updates" and roll back to the good old Google that they were when they had just started.

But the result is poor now, if you compared it to previous time.

I'm not sure if google is doing well but I still see irrelevant and spammy links on the first page of google results.

In business the more money you make, your business would grow accordingly and you have to maintain it, so for maintaining the large Google company it has to be competitive.
