Increasing your page rank is a simple set of procedures you can perform on your website. They are collectively referred to as Search Engine Optimization, often abbreviated as SEO. SEO falls under two main categories: on-page and off-page.
SEO falls under two main categories: on-page and off-page[IMG]
    On-Page SEO

Keyword density means how many times a keyword appears on your page versus the total number of words, often represented using a percentage. The higher the keyword density, the more related to the topic search engines will think your page is.
On-page SEO focuses on keyword density and keyword placement. Understanding both of these things and how to effectively use them will make more difference than anything else in getting your page ranked higher.
There is more to it than that, though. Search engines are very intelligent nowadays, and they can usually spot a page that is naturally written versus a page that is only using a keyword repeatedly to try and raise in rank. Search engines also value words in particular placements more than others, and these places are the title of your page, subheadings within the body, and the first and last paragraphs. This can vary a bit depending the nature of your page (article vs. product page, for instance), but the basic idea remains the same.
    Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO primarily focuses on building up external links among other useful tricks. This can pick up the slack and further convince search engines your page is relevant to searches about a particular topic.
There are a variety of ways to build up links back to your page. Link swapping with another side is common, as is submitting your link to a web directory. Both are useful and should be utilized as much as possible.
The more useful links are those that you don't link back to. These can include reviews of your products and services as well as links in news articles, blog posts, or online discussions such as what occurs on an online forum. The value of these links vary depending on how reputable the website is, and links back to you using your target keywords are more valuable than those that do not.
Another off-page task is setting your meta tags to describe your page using your desired keyword.
This is just the beginning. The full extent of SEO techniques are such that a variety of companies have appeared that specialize in it. Whether you do it yourself or hire a firm to help, the basic idea remains the same: keywords and links.

A lot get hung up on PR. The thing is the PR will increase as your site gets more popular, and the only way your site will be popular is if you promote it. Build quality links to the site, drive traffic to the site and your site's PR will improve over time.

    Have a good day!
